Wedding Song

For some unknown reason, I was thinking of wedding songs today.  I think the first song really says alot about a couple. Skip and I had a really tough time trying to come up with a wedding song.  We do not agree on music at all.  I tell him he only likes 'old man' music {stuff from our parents generation} and I could easily pass for a teeny bopper with my choices.  So agreeing on just one song proved rather difficult. The months he was in Iraq we would email lists of tons and tons of songs back and forth that we both wanted.  Not one song was the same and we each vetoed every single one of the other's pics. It wasn't until late June that we finally made our choice {which was good since we got married in July!} We were stuck in hours and hours of traffic coming back from Jesse's funeral.  The Pretender's song 'I'll Stand By You' came on the radio.  I commented that I had always loved that song since they used to play it during the previews for the mov

Lack of Blogging

I haven't been posting recently because of the following reasons: - Little M's last two teeth are coming in.  She's in a lot of pain and that's causing her to throw screaming tantrums all.day.long {though the past few days have been better} - Watching lots of football and all the new fall shows {but I hate football today...stupid Giants} - I have been battling a cold for two weeks now - I lost my voice on Friday...not sure when it's coming back - I'm rearranging furniture in my house...again - I'm having lots and lots of trouble falling asleep at night.  I'm not napping during the day, so I should be tired.  I didn't fall asleep until 5:00 am on Friday night {technically Saturday morning} Praise the Lord Little M sleeps until 8 or 10. - Lots of nights with our friends talking, laughing, and destressing - Lack of ideas of what to post about. Will be back soon.  Feel free to ask me questions or give suggestions of what I should post about!!

Miscellany Monday

{one} After a long weekend of some not so good days of Little M screaming, today was a good day...a warm and fuzzy 'I love being a Mommy' kind of day.  It was nice. {two} I firmly believe that dancing around the family room with Little M and Skip is the best calorie burner out there {three} I am in the process of rewatching the entire last season of Grey's Anatomy before the season premiere on Thursday.  I'm so excited!!! {four} Skip took off a few days last week with a terrible cold.  Now I have it.  This is why I hate the fall.  Stupid germs.  I'm so tired of feeling so crappy. {five} Little M slept until 10:30 am today.  I don't care if she screams all day long.  I *love* my daughter's sleeping habits! {six} It's a good thing Little M rarely wakes up before 8:00 am because for the past few weeks I haven't be able to fall asleep before 2:00 am. the earliest.  It's really driving me crazy. {seven} Every night after I put Little M to bed, our bul

One of Those Days...

Today was one of those days....and unfortunately it was not one of those good, warm, fuzzy wonderful mommy days.  It was a rough day....and a weird day...and a day I was happy to end in pj's, some Grey's Anatomy reruns, and some girl talk with my friend J. My daughter has turned into a Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde.  From the time she woke up this morning until she went down for her nap, she screamed.  About everything.  We tried timeouts...she screamed....distractions...she screamed....just plain ignoring her....and on she screamed.  We gave her some Tylenol for her teeth, and even after it had kicked in, still she screamed.  She was full, dry, and isn't sick.  But still she screamed all.morning.long. By 2:00 I was done.  Exhausted, frustrated, worn out, and feeling like the worst mommy in the world.  So I plopped myself on the couch and zoned out in front of the TV for two hours, attempting to mentally prepare myself to face the rest of the day. When 4:00 rolled around I was re

Bedroom Transformation

Image
Remember this post back in JUNE about picking new paint colors for our bedroom?  Well what started out as a simple paint job turned into an entire bedroom makeover!  Once the color was on the walls, I realized I hated my bedroom furniture.  So I proceeded to sand, prime, and paint each and every piece.  Once that was done, our bedskirt, sheets, and duvet were looking a little tired, so I had to replace them as well.  So now, three months later, I'm done!  And I could not be happier with the results.  I finally feel like Skip and I have a real master bedroom, for the first time in our married life.  It is warm, luxurious, and relaxing!  Now check out the transformation for yourself. This is our bedroom when we first moved in These are the before pictures, with the yellow paint color Also, take note of the color of the dressers and night tables And now the new grey bedroom! I painted the wall behind our bed a darker grey than the rest of the room. What do you think of the 'new&#

Look at what Little M did the other day. She lined up all these toys herself, all in a row, all facing the picture frame.  She's a genius I'm sure!

Final Beach Vacation - Day 2

Image
I am so late on this post, but better late than never right!  Our final day at the beach a few weeks ago was a wonderful little family day.  We spent the morning on the beach {no picture unfortunately} making sandcastles and enjoying the sun.  After we were nice and sandy we headed out to lunch at Perkins, one of our new favorite restaurants at the beach. Once we were good and stuffed we headed back to the house for a bit so Little M could nap.  Once she woke up we drove to this gorgeous lake about 15 minutes away.  I love that there is so much for us to do down there!  And don't worry, we took lots of pictures at the lake! The beautiful lake How cute is my man? Getting ready to slide Not too sure But Daddy makes her laugh My favorite...she just loves her Dad!!! Climbing through the tunnel Looking out at the geese She totally looks like a little Hermine here! After the lake, we ran a few errands and then treated ourselves to dinner at Pizza Hut...yumm!!  Then it was back home again

The Day that Changed Forever

Image
Since I will be participate in my blogging day of silence in honor of those killed on 9/11, I thought I would post my memories of that day today.  This is what I wrote last year.... This date will never be the same to me. It will never just be another day in September. It will always be a day of solemnity and remembrance. September 11, 2001 forever changed the world as I knew it. I was a college freshman at University in Connecticut. I had only been there 8 days when I woke up that Tuesday morning. I had an 8:00 am class that got out just before 9:00 am that day. As I walked out of class, I noticed a lot of students standing around the TV in the hallway. There was no sound but someone told me that a plane flew and hit into the World Trade Center. Just then I looked up at the TV and saw the plane flying into the tower. I thought it was video coverage of the first plane. I had no idea it was the second plane hitting. I went back to my room to tell my  roommate  what I had just seen. She

Final Beach Vacation - Day 1

Image
Since we were only at the beach last week for two full days, we tried to cram as much fun into those days as possible!  It was the last time we will be going down there this summer {obviously, Labor Day is already over} and we didn't want to take a single second for granted! The first morning we got up and headed off to the nearby island that has my favorite beach on it.  We spent the first few hours of the morning laying out, relaxing, and taking walks on the beach {and avoiding the water....crazy rip currents that week!} Napping on the beach Mom, ice cream truck is here!!! Having a snack with mom {not icecream!} Breeze on her face Around lunchtime we left and went to my most favorite pizza place in the world.  I have been so lucky to get there several times this year!  Once we finished we headed back to my parent's house so Little M could take a nap. While she was napping, the husband said the most amazing thing...he said I should go to Target....BY MYSELF!!  I may or may not

A Day of Silence

Image
When baby Cohen passed away, many of us in the blog community participated in a day of silence in his honor, in support of his parents.  It was a wonderful outpouring of love. This Saturday I would like to do something very similar.  I would like to sponsor a day of silence in honor of all those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.  I would love it if as many people as possible could participate. All you would have to do is post the following picture on your blog {I found the picture here and added my own caption}.  I will also add a linky on my blog so we can all link up together {if I can figure out how to do that} So grab this picture to post on your blog this Saturday.  September 11, 2001.....I will NEVER forget...
