Emmy's First Trip to NYC

Image
I've mentioned on here before, that we live pretty close to New York City.  We really don't go in all that much though, as there is always a ridiculous amount of traffic and everything is just so expensive .  Seriously, it's like $14 just to cross the bridge. Anyways, it's been a while since we went in, and for months  now Emmy has been asking to go into "my New York City" as she called it.  You can see the skyline from certain areas around where we live, and she's always been mesmerized by all the tall buildings.  They also talk about the Museum of Natural History in one of her favorite Mercer Meyer books.  So we had my mom come up last Friday to watch Charlie for the day {she is so not city ready} and we headed in! We've done driving, trains, and buses to get into the city, depending on where we were heading, and for this it was easier to drive.  So we did {and by we I mean Skip...I drove in NYC once  and refuse to every do it again}. We were worried

Wednesday Ramblings

Thank you so much for all the anniversary wishes yesterday!  I still can't believe it's been nine years .  It sure goes by in a flash. Skip and I kept the day pretty simple.  We exchanged cards in the morning and had a little in-home date night.  We ordered some Italian food to eat while the girls were in bed, and watched a movie.  It was a perfect, relaxing evening to celebrate our marriage! Today marks two years since we lost our sweet Braddock.  In light of all the death we have experienced in the past few years, it seems silly to still be upset over the loss of a dog, but I can't help it; I am.  He was my little boy and I still miss him every day. We had another really busy weekend this week.  We took Emmy into the city for the first time on Friday {separate post coming on that}. Saturday was spent at a pool party a guy Skip works with threw.  Girls were obsessed  with the pool, and were swimming for the entire few hours we were there.  Definitely going to have to look

Nine Years a Bride

Image
Nine years ago today I went from a Miss to a Mrs. I pledged my life and love to Skip. I promised for better and worse in sickness and health in good times and bad. In those nine years we have had better and worse sickness and health good times and bad. And there's no one else I'd rather live and love with than Skip. Every day I chose Skip. Happy anniversary baby!

Owning It

So I saw this post on a friend of a friend's blog, and decided to jump in too! {click on the picture to head to her blog} The whole point is to own all the little, and big things that make us who we are.  I love this idea of us {mostly} women coming together and being proud of exactly who we are.  No more apologizing for it!! So here's my list: ~ I don't care if it damages my hair and it never grows again, I much  prefer being a blond and don't plan on changing back again. - I am one of those people who really does love exercising.  I always feel worse physically on days I don't.  I've pretty much been this way since high school. ~ I am scared every day that something will happen to Skip at work. ~ I can't stand reality shows. ~ I love cooking but I hate coming up with ideas of what to make. ~ Laundry sits in my room waiting to be put away for days. ~ I am Catholic but struggle to get to church every week.  It's not that I don't want to, it's jus

I Kind of Live in Stars Hollow

I live in this tiny, adorable little town in NJ.  It's about 2 square miles and about 10,000 people.  Most towns around me are not much larger than that in square mileage, but mine is one of the only ones with a really cute downtown area.  There is one long lamp-lined street filled with restaurants, stores, and salons.  It ends right at the railroad station, and just beyond that there is the Veteran's Park.  The park is just a big grassy area with gazebo in the middle.  The whole thing has a very Gilmore Girls-esque feel to it sometimes. What adds to that effect, are the town functions we put on.  Christmas parades, sidewalk sales, concerts in the park, etc. It really is fantastic to have so many cute things to do in town.  What's even better is our house is only about a 10 minute walk from town, so it's super easy to just pop in and see what's going on. Back in May, there was a craft fair going on in the park area.  There were tons  of tables set up with people sel
