Halloween Flashback

Image
Happy Halloween everyone!! Here's a little flashback of some Halloween past... Hope you all have a spooky good day and get to eat a lot of candy!!

Pause

I'm not sure if anyone even noticed yesterday, but I'm putting my Workout Wednesday link-up on hold for a bit. For a few weeks I had a pain in my right foot when I would run.  Nothing crazy, but a little annoying.  Well sadly is seemed to get worse and since last week it's been a constant pain. I had foot surgery a few years ago, so I'm going to go see my podiatrist today to see what's been going on.  I've still been working out a bit, though it's been making it worse, so I fear a workout break is in my future.  I'm pretty bummed about it because I just got brand new sneakers and a heart rate watch and I was really looking forward to pushing myself more.  Oh well, I'll just have to wait and see what the doctor says. But until then Workout Wednesday will be on hold for a bit. Happy Cabbage Night everyone!  {well everyone in Jersey at least!}

Fall Things

Image
Our little family got to participate in some fun fall activities the past few days.  On Saturday our town held it's annual Ragamuffin parade.  All the little kids dress up in their Halloween costumes and we go parading down the main street.  It is as cute as it sounds. Yesterday we finally decided it was time to get pumpkins to carve before Thanksgiving.  We've been to a few farms this season, but had yet to grab any pumpkins.  The squirrels in our neighborhood are vicious {as is the groundhog who's eaten almost all our mum flowers} and so we wanted to wait as long as possible before we got them. It actually worked out perfectly as we basically had the farm to ourselves!  Guess no one procrastinates like us.  We got to see the animals, walk through the hay maze, and have our pick of the pumpkins. I can't wait to carve them together sometime this week. I may not like the fall and the cooler weather it brings, but I do love these fun family activities together!

Currently....

I've seen this on a few blogs before and thought it was cute, so I decided to snag it for this rainy Friday! Currently... reading:  Nothing!  Actually that's only because I just finished If I Stay by Gayle Forman late last night.  So good, but so sad and gave me nightmares.  Up next is Medal of Honor winner Dakota Meyer's book. writing:  This...and my novel.  listening:  The Today Show...and Pingu because that's what Charlie is watching. thinking:  I cannot believe how big Charlie is these days.  She is getting so tall, and is way more little girl than toddler! smelling:  My amazing coffee....hazelnut coffee mixed with salted caramel mocha creamer. wishing:  To go back to Disney....I swear they pump something into the air that makes you want to keep going back! hoping:  The rain finally stops today.  It's been raining for days and it's really starting to get old.  I am so much less productive when it's raining than when it's sunny! wearing:  Grey pajam

Workout Wednesday

Welcome to another week of workout Wednesdays!  I hope some of you are inspired to link up this week! Here is what I have been up to the past week: Wednesday October 15: 3.1 mile run Thursday: none Friday: 6.2 mile run Saturday: none Sunday: Shred level 2 Monday: 4.4 mile run Tuesday: 2.1 mile run / weights Weekly miles - 15.8 Monthly total - 48.2 Weekly total workouts: 5 Monthly total - 16 Well my workout funk continues.  Obviously I'm doing something, but I was so motivated in August and September and I've lost that drive to keep pushing myself to go farther and do more.  Here's hoping I can really buckle down and find that this week! What are your favorite workouts? <div align="center"><br /><a <span class="goog-spellcheck-word" id=":z.1" tabindex="-1" role="menuitem" aria-haspopup="true" style="background: yellow;">href</span>="http://www.<span class="goog-spell

Birthday recap

Image
Thank you all so much for the birthday wishes on Sunday!  I truly had one of the best weekends ever and felt so loved and spoiled! We kicked off the weekend Friday night with a night out with just our little family of four.  When I was younger, I spent many Friday nights at Barnes and Noble with my family, followed by dinner at a local hot dog/hamburger place.  So this past weekend Skip suggested we recreate it with our girls! I got to pick out a few books for myself as an early birthday present, and other than one epic tantrum from Charlie when we were leaving, they were really well behaved in the book store. I was even more shocked when they sat like little ladies at dinner.  Not only were Skip and I able to eat our meals, we got to eat them leisurely!  In fact we were both done before the girls were! It was a great way to jump start the weekend. Early Saturday morning we headed down the beach to my parent's house.  We met them and my older sister and a farm near there house.  It

Five on Friday

Image
I decided to keep it easy this morning and join in on the Five on Friday fun!! {one} Thank you all so much for the love on yesterday's post !  It's nerve-wracking to put yourself out there and tell people you're doing something, when you very well could fail at it.  But who knows, maybe I'll be one of the lucky ones!  And in case you're wondering what writing a book looks like, this is now how I spend as much of my day as I can: Why yes I am hand writing the whole thing first, then going back and typing it up...that's just how my brain works. {two} I'm totally obsessed with my compression sleeves recently.  I was always pretty skeptical of how good they actually works, but I am absolutely a convert.  I wear them at night for recovery and will wear them running on long runs.  If you're getting into running longer distances, definitely invest in a pair! {three} I distressed a pair of jeans yesterday and I'm pretty excited with the way they turned ou

An Intimidating New Venture

I've been going back and forth for weeks as to whether or not I wanted to write this post.  It's hard to put things out there in the world sometimes.  But hey, why not right? I mentioned a few weeks ago that I've been working on something, something that's been keeping my busy and forcing me to really try and manage my time with all my other responsibilities {which I'm actually failing at regularly}.  Well I'm finally ready to share what that something is.   I'm writing a book .  A novel to be more exact. This is something I have wanted to do {and have started and stopped a million times} since I was ten years old.  About two months ago I decided enough was enough and I was just going to do it.  I had a basic story in mind and I decided it was time to start procrastinating. I'm now 63,000 words in and absolutely in love with the whole process.  It's been hard, don't get me wrong, but I love everything about it.  I would just love if I could make

Workout Wednesday

Image
Welcome to another week of workout Wednesdays!  I hope some of you are inspired to link up this week! Here is what I have been up to the past week: Wednesday October 8: 3.5 mile run Thursday: none Friday: 8 mile run Saturday: 4.2 mile run Sunday: Shred level 2 Monday: one week Shred {weights section} Tuesday: 5.2 mile run Weekly miles - 20.9 Monthly total - 32.4 Weekly total workouts: 6 Monthly total - 11 I took on less rest day this week than last, and my mileage was a little higher.  I still feel like I'm struggling with motivation.  Even once I get out there I'm having a tough time doing longer runs.  Maybe if I finally clean up my eating habits a little bit it'll help! Am I the only one who goes through a workout funk? <div align="center"><br /><a href="http://www.mommymandymusings.com" title="Mommy Musings"><img src="http://i1374.photobucket.com/albums/ag425/Amanda_Solimando/a0c0689d-7cfc-4367-ae68-d778a3aa0660_zp

New Fall Finds

Image
We are officially knee deep in fall {in case you missed someone posting a picture of a PSL on Instagram}.  It's no secret that I attempt to cling to summer as long as I can.  But with highs in the 60's and lows in the 40's, I think I'm finally going to have to put away the flip flops. To ease the blow of the cooler temperatures, I always treat myself to a few new things to add to my wardrobe.  {By the way this is not a sponsored post, just things I bought recently that I'm loving!}  Kohls and Target have been my go-to places recently when I need clothes.  Almost every day in the fall, I can be seen in some combination of the follow: tall boots, skinny jeans, tank top, cardigan or tunic, scarf.  I know, pretty much what most women my age are wearing these days...but there's a reason...it's so cute and comfy!  I wanted to add a few tops in my wardrobe this year to help change things up a little.  Here are the pieces I got! Kohls: I actually got this in a deep
