Ten Years

Image
Ten years.  2015 is a big "anniversary" year for us.  A decade ago, we had got to experience some of the most wonderful moments of my life.  But none was more important that February 26, 2005, the day Skip came home from Iraq. Nothing that came after would have been possible without that day, and I never once take it for granted.  After months and months apart, Skip was finally back in my arms, safe and sound.  There is nothing, nothing  better than a homecoming. Sorry for the picture quality of some of these...I screenshot some of them off the homecoming video we have! Happy ten years home Skip.  Today, and every day, I thank God you were able to come home to me.

Winter weather...Stars Hollow...Oscars...this post has it all! - This winter has been rough  on me.  I do not do well in the cold dreary temps.  And I really  don't do well when you see temps like -21 when you have to take your kid to school.  We're not Canada...this is not normal for Jersey. - We had to unfreeze the pipes twice  last week.  Thankfully Skip was home for the first one.  And yes, we keep out heat at 70* at night, open all the cabinet doors, and put all the faucets on to drip at night.  We're just that lucky. - Needless to say last week was  loooooong .  I feel like I can never get warm, no matter how many pairs of pants you're wearing at once.  You know it's a bad winter when yesterday reached 38* and you practically ran through the streets wearing shorts. - Even though the snow threatened to derail our plans, Skip and I managed to sneak out for a little date night Saturday!  Our town, in continuing to strive to be Stars Hollow, opened a small movie t

Day of Love

I'm pretty sure this was the best Valentine's Day I ever had.  Skip was supposed to work, but he was able to take a vacation day and stay home with us.  We all got up together and went downstairs for a few gifts.  Skip picked up some giant balloons and I had gotten them some new pj's and bath towels....and of course a few pieces of candy! Skip and I had decided not to exchange anything, but apparently we're not so good at following the rules.  I got Skip some chocolates and he got me the most beautiful bouquet of tulips...,my favorite flower! We relaxed and hung out together for the rest of the morning.  Since our sitter was unavailable that weekend, Skip and I were going to take the girls out to dinner.  However, as is the norm this winter, we were supposed to get some snow that night, so we decided to go out to lunch instead. We went to T.G.I.Fridays because we're classy like that.  It was such  an enjoyable experience...which as the mom of two kids I never though

Bits and Pieces

I'm not even sure what day it is anymore, so a little mish mash is all I can handle today. - Emmy was off of school again  yesterday.  We had way more ice than snow this storm, which made it so much more dangerous. Covered in ice I'm not sure how much more of this I can take.  Especially since the high on Sunday is going to be 9*.......9*.  Someone fly me to Florida - Being stuck in the house so much is really starting to wear on all of us, and we are running out of ways to pass the time: there has been plenty of dress up.... ...snuggles.... ...purging and reorganizing anything I can find... ...way too many sweets... ...and dance parties every night. Please let winter be over soon...I'm not sure how much more I can take. - I have been editing my book for weeks now.  Its almost ready for some of my friends to read it.  I've enlisted a few of them to be brutally honest with their feedback.  I'm so scared to send my baby out into the world! - I needed a new show to sta

Biggest Girl Bed

Image
Big things have been happening around these parts for my Charlie bear.  Back in the summer, her crib turned toddler bed, broke.  The metal part in the middle that the mattress lays on broke.  So for the past few months she's been sleeping on a mattress that just sits on the floor, while surrounded by the bed frame.  Needless to say, it was time for a new bed. It was quite a process and took a lot of research to find a bed.  Charlie's room is tiny .  Like really really tiny.  So I spent hours measuring up in her room, trying to find the largest bed we could fit.  I really wanted to get a twin bed with a trundle.  We have a decent amount of people stay over our house, and I wanted to have as much room as possible to accommodate them.  I also was willing to pay for quality, but didn't want to drop thousands on a bed and mattresses, so I really put in the time searching for the best deal. After being delayed by snow, the flu, and more snow, we weer finally able to head out with
