May Miles

Image
We're winding down May already, can you believe it?!?  Here's my workouts for the past week. Thursday May 22 - 2.7 mile run Friday - 2.3 mile run Saturday - 4 mile run Sunday - 3.2 mile run Monday - 1 mile walk / arms and ab workout Tuesday -  3.1 mile run Wednesday - 2 mile elliptical / 5 mile bike Weekly Total - 23.3 miles May Total Miles - 67.6 May workout total - 24 I've been really pleased with my workouts this week!  I had Charlie in the jogging stroller for my first two runs.  She still sits in the stroller nicely, but is starting to get annoyed if I go out for too long.  So I've been saving my longer runs for when Skip can watch the girls.  I'm super proud of the miles this month, especially since most of them are just running!  Happy to be on track to hit 70 this month!

Weekend Update

Image
In addition to our Memorial Day being so wonderful, our entire weekend was pretty awesome as well.  Skip worked the day shift Friday, and then was off all weekend.... yes that's right, Saturday and Sunday too!  A real treat, let me tell you.   We kicked off Friday by heading in to Brooklyn for the wedding of one of my college girls.  Unfortunately we missed the ceremony due to the crazy  traffic in Manhattan.  At least there was plenty to look at while stuck in traffic! George Washington Bridge The Intrepid Freedom Tower The actual wedding was gorgeous and so much fun .  I love a night out with my man, and getting to spend time with these girls and their husbands! Thankfully there was no traffic on the way home...just an insane thunderstorm.  Always something right! Saturday was a relaxing day spend taking Emmy to dance, just hanging out in the afternoon, and an in-home movie night with Skip once the girls went to bed.   Sunday morning was spent outside and getting a few things don

A Day to Remember

Image
Yesterday was a good day, a really good day .  Which I feel really guilty about, as it is a day set aside to remember all those in uniform who gave our lives for our freedom.  And don't worry, among the wonderful times our family spent together, Skip and I made sure to remember those who died.  We talked about those we knew, those we learned the names of.  In our house, we never  let their sacrifice go unnoticed. But among all that, we had such a sweet summer-like day together.  First off, the temps topped out in the upper 80's, which in my book means everything is just a little bit better.  Skip had to work, but not until the afternoon, so we had the whole morning together. The girls slept till 8 {wahoo!} and we all got up and quickly got dressed before heading into the parade in our town.  I hadn't bought special outfits for the girls for the holiday, whoops , but we made do. As soon as we got home, we quick changed into our bathing suits and headed out to the backyard.

Wedddings and Babies oh my!

Happy Friday everyone!! {one} For once it's like a real weekend around here.  Skip is actually off this Saturday and Sunday!!  Of course he has to work the holiday on Monday, but he's off on an actual weekend!!!  It's amazing. {two} One of my old college roomies is getting married tonight and I cannot wait!! I love a chance to dress up, have a night out with my man, and catch up with my girls from college.  I'm still in total denial that it's been nine years since we graduated. {three} My best friend since we were 16 became a mom the other day!  She gave birth to the sweetest, most beautiful little girl!  I was more than excited to get to snuggle that little bundle of love last night.  Baby fever like woah!   And my bestie is staying in the exact same room at the hospital I did when I had Charlie!  Small world huh. {four} We leave for Disney waaaay sooner than I will be ready for.  The next few weeks are going to be a flurry of laundry, packing, and me runn

May Miles

Thursday May 15 - 3.1 mile run Friday - none Saturday - 5.1 mile run Sunday - 2.5 mile run Monday - 3.2 mile run Tuesday -  4 mile run Wednesday - none Weekly Total - 17.9 miles May Total Miles - 44.3 May workout total - 17 I'm happy that I was able to really focus on, and step up my running this week.  That's also why I made sure to take two rest days this week.  I've been doing really well with it and I want to make sure an injury doesn't sideline me.  I also know I need to focus on cross-training a little more this week. How have your miles been?  What are you plans to keep up with workouts over this holiday weekend?

Sunshine in the Rain

While we woke up to sun, the clouds have taken over the sky this morning, and rain showers are on their way.  Thankfully I have my own little ray of sunshine right here in the house! Have a great Wednesday everyone!

Rainy Day Painting

I cannot tell you how beyond excited  I am that it is spring now.  That winter we had was never ending, and I swear it felt like we'd never be able to play outside again.  Thankfully the warm sunny days are plentiful and we spend almost every afternoon out in the fresh air. Sadly we do still have the occasional rainy, blustery day that keeps us locked up in the house again .  Thankfully Emmy knows how to make the best of a situation and asked to break out her paints.  She wanted to make a picture for each of the kids in her class She finished them up over the weekend and handed them out to her class yesterday.  What a sweet little soul she has!

Nuby Fun Feeding Bowls

Image
It's no surprise that the girls are growing bigger each day.  And with their lengthening height, also comes much bigger appetites.  Emmy has been known to eat a full meal as a snack, while still eating all her meals properly, because she's constantly hungry!  So snacking is a pretty serious thing around here. Because the girls don't have to eat their snacks sitting a the table, I want the plates, cups, etc they use to be very well made and practical.  I want them to stand up to taking a little bit of a beating, wash up very well, and contain the snacks that seem to grow bigger every day.  That last one is getting to be pretty important.  I don't want the girls using my nice dinner bowls to contain their snacks, but the typical baby bowls just aren't cutting it anymore. Thankfully I was give the chance to try out the Nuby Fun Feeding Bowls .  Brightly colored and much bigger in size than all the other bowls I had sealed the deal for me.  The girls can fit lots of gr

Featured Blogger, Tv, and Missing Daddy-itis

Image
{one} I woke up to a fabulous  email this morning from BlogHer saying that my potty training post is being featured on their site today!!  It really made my day, I won't lie.   Go check me out!! {two} Poor Emmy was suffering from "missing daddy-itis" yesterday {her words, not mine}  She's at an age now where she realizes that most other dads are home every night and on weekends and holidays, but hers isn't.  It's been really rough on her recently.  It's hard too, because there's noting we can do to change it.  Skip is actually off on Sunday though, so he and Emmy are going to head out for a daddy/daughter date all day.  Fishing, horse-riding, and the park are on the agenda apparently! {three} Raise your hand if you cried during Grey's last night {raises hand!}  I know some people don't like the character of Christina, but I have always thought she was one of the best.  I don't like how different the show is going to be without her.  I f
