Daddy's Girls

Image
Since the girls were actually behaving for a few pictures with me on Mother's Day, we decided to quick snap a few with Skip as well. Emmy and Charlie are definitely daddy's girls at heart. They're favorite time of day is when he gets home and they get to run and greet him at the door with hugs. They've both been struggling a lot recently when Skip is at work, and not understanding why he can't be home every night like a lot of other daddies. This cop kid life can be hard, but it just makes us all appreciate every moment we are lucky enough to spend with him!

A Day for Mothers

Good morning!  I hope all you moms had a wonderful, relaxing day yesterday.  I know some people think it's silly to celebrate a Hallmark-type holiday, but I am all about  moms getting a whole day of recognition {dads too!} I can honestly say that yesterday was the most wonderful Mother's Day I've ever had.  I was able to relax, spend time with my family, and just felt very loved and appreciated. After breakfast, we Face Timed with my mom and figured out what our plans w...

If I'm being honest, I was kind of dreading Mother's Day this year.  It is the first one without my MIL, and I knew it was going to be a really hard day for all of us.  There was a decent amount of crying on my part on Saturday.  But then Skip said something so wonderful that really put things into perspective.  He said that we shouldn't be sad for his mom, since she was getting to spend Mother's Day with her  mother in heaven...and what a wonderful gift that was.  And while it was hard for the rest of us, we should just concentrate our efforts on those still here on Earth. He's a smart one that boy;-)   Skip's wonderful mindset really helped put my mind at ease and help me and enjoy the day. I was awoken at 10:30 {sweet!}.  There was no breakfast in bed, since Skip knows how ...
