Football and Police

Image
A few weeks ago we took the girls to two of my favorite things....Giants training camp at the stadium and National Night Out with our local police. The girls were more interested in face painting and balloon animals than actually watching the Giants, but I got to see Victor Cruz and ODB Jr, so I was happy enough.  Maybe next year we'll try taking them to a game! Eli Manning and Victor Cruz Our local police participated in National Night Out with several of the neighboring towns.  There was a K-9 presentation, lots of cop cars and firetrucks for the kids to check out, face-painting, and free food!  We got Emmy fingerpinted, played on the bouncy houses, and grabbed some free t-shirts and bracelets.  Obviously my kids have a close relationship with the law enforcement community, but it was still fun to support our local men and women in blue!

Biggest Big Blue Fans Ever

Image
It's no surprise that I am a huge Giants fan.   Huge .   Seriously, I was in the paper once for being the biggest fan ever. So when I had kids, I was determined to pass on my love of the game and the team to them.  I wasn't going to push it on them, but at the very least I would make sure they were never Eagles fans...or Cowboys...or Redskins...and definitely not the Jets. It started as dressing them up in Giants stuff every game day when they were little.  Football is on all day on Sundays in the fall and winter.  And they pretty much just have to deal with it.  Emmy was not into it at first.  She didn't realize why I got control of the TV for hours, watching a sport she didn't care at all about. But sloooowly she started paying attention a little closer to each game.  She would get excited whenever I would cheer and dance around.  She started cheering as well, and learned that "GO GIANTS" is the cheer of choice around here. Recently I was t...

Flashback Friday

As the NFL draft is currently taking place the next few days, I figured it was the appropriate time to share some old photos of Emmy from the first time we took her to Giant's stadium.  For years our friends and I had attended the big draft day party the Giants held every year.  And when Emmy was 5 months old, I was beyond excited to have her join in the tradition! Yeah that's Howard Cross reaching for my baby! Sadly this was the last Draft Day party held this way.  They stopped them for a while, and now they're only open to season ticket holders.  But I'm glad that we got to bring Emmy when we did at least!  I promised Emmy we could go down and watch training camp this summer, and she's super excited.  I'm glad she's starting to love football as much as her mom.  Good thing I got her started off so young!

NEW JERSEY - Host to the Greatest Super Bowl Ever

Image
If you have any friends from New Jersey, you're probably sick of all of the "THE SUPER BOWL IS IN NEW JERSEY NOT NEW YORK POSTS".  I get it, it must be annoying, but sadly it is something we feel must be constantly defended.  Today I'm here to explain to you why it is so important to all us Garden Staters that the media and everyone else gets this right. {one} First off let me reiterate once again that the Super Bowl this year is indeed being played in New Jersey....East Rutherford, NJ to be exact.  That is where the stadium is located....always has been.  Yes, they are called the New York Giants and Jets {I have no idea why} but the stadium is in NJ. {two} The players are not actually going to be in New York at all.  They landed in New Jersey, attended media day in New Jersey, are practicing in New Jersey, have been sleeping in New Jersey, will play the game in New Jersey, and will fly out of New Jersey.  All Jersey, no York....

Like a Star-Struck Teenager

It's a weird in between life we're living right now.  We are all trying to move on, move forward.  But at any instant, some tiny little reminder will send us spiraling back into our grief. Something we have learned already, is that while we need to take time to ride the wave of grief, we also need to make room for a little happiness in our lives as well.  Over the weekend Skip and I planned out a few things we wanted to do to cheer ourselves up. One of my "happy things" took place last night and involved this book. Unless you're brand new here, you know I am the biggest Giants fan ever .  Seriously.  And I will try and meet a Giants player pretty much any way I can...games, draft day party at the stadium, book signings...you get the idea. Completely star struck  In the past I have waited for three hours at a book signing for Tiki Barber, four for Michael Strahan, and another three and a half or so for Tiki again when I was 39 weeks 2 days pregnant with Emm...

Superbowl Menu

Image
Today is the most depressing day of the year.  No really .  It's only the beginning of February, so we still have plenty of winter chill left, and since last night was the Superbowl, there is no more football.  None, zero, nada.  Thankfully I still have the 2012 Superbowl on DVR, so I can just watch that whenever I feel the need. Anywho, we obviously hosted a Superbowl party last night.  I swear it's more of a holiday around here than most!  I spent the whole day cooking and cleaning!  It wasn't as big as our party last year , but it still deserved our proper attention.  Now I have found that the easiest way to menu plan for a party these days is to head over to my Pinterest account and start searching.  Most of the food I made last night I found on Pinterest.  What did we do without it?!?! Here are the foods I came up with Tortilla roll-ups found here Pizza Dip found here Chili...not found from Pinterest though:) Buffalo Chicken Bites...
