Nuby Fun Feeding Bowls

Image
It's no surprise that the girls are growing bigger each day.  And with their lengthening height, also comes much bigger appetites.  Emmy has been known to eat a full meal as a snack, while still eating all her meals properly, because she's constantly hungry!  So snacking is a pretty serious thing around here. Because the girls don't have to eat their snacks sitting a the table, I want the plates, cups, etc they use to be very well made and practical.  I want them to stand up to taking a little bit of a beating, wash up very well, and contain the snacks that seem to grow bigger every day.  That last one is getting to be pretty important.  I don't want the girls using my nice dinner bowls to contain their snacks, but the typical baby bowls just aren't cutting it anymore. Thankfully I was give the chance to try out the Nuby Fun Feeding Bowls .  Brightly colored and much bigger in size than all the other bowls I had sealed the deal for me.  The girls...

Nuby Princess Sport Sipper

Image
As soon as I saw the Nuby Princess Sport Sipper , I knew Emmy would love it.  She is obsessed with everything princesses and this sweet cup is right up her alley.  As soon as I pulled it out of the box we had the name the princess {Sophia} and she wouldn't use any other cup for weeks. But what I wasn't expecting was that Charlie would grab hold of this sipper and not want to let go!  The whimsical design and ease of use appeals to her too!  And I mean, why shouldn't it.  The Nuby Princess Sport Sipper features: - No spill design - Built in valve - Easy grip design According to the Nuby website: Almost every little girl dreams of being a princess.  That's one reason why your little one is sure to love the Princess Sport Sipper from Nuby.  It is available in a variety of cute Princess designs that make drinking from a cup more fun.  It's sized just right for little hands to grip and it features an easy to use sport sipper straw that is durable enou...

Nuby Flower Child Feeding Set

Image
Charlie was lucky enough to review the Nuby Flower Child Feeding Set .  Not only it is super adorable, but it is great for function as well.  According to the Nuby website : This Toddler Plate and Bowl are ideal for children who are beginning to feed themselves. Suitable for warm or cold foods. Microwave safe. Not only is it important to have utensils that are safe for the baby, but they should be specially designed to be easy for little hands to hold and use. Our colorful forks and spoons are designed to meet all of these special needs for either left handed or right handed babies. My favorite part of this set is that the leaves on the bottom of the bowl and plate are rubber.  This means that they don't slip off the high chair.  The plastic is strong as well and has withstood many hits to the ground. Charlie just loves the bright colors, and even Emmy has requested this set as well!  Overall it is a durable, adorable plate, bowl. and silverware set the girls a...

Food Allergy Friday - Outrage

I had a different post scheduled for this morning, but that's going to have to be pushed back till tomorrow.  I found this article on Yahoo this morning and I am just appalled.  I get it, I'm sure it's annoying to have to grab something else for your kid to eat other than peanut butter, but as food allergy kid parents, we're concerned about our kids LIVES.  I am seriously fuming over this. As the article said, none of us want to be food allergy parents.  But it's what we have to deal with.  And wouldn't it be easier for the kids, teachers, and parents to just be nut free instead of trying to remember if you can send in this, or that, or what class has allergy kids?  What are your thoughts?  Do you think schools should be nut free?  Remember that there are children, like my Emmy, who cannot even tough peanut butter without having a reaction.  What is the policy at your school?  I'd love to hear your opinions on this! It's hard to be...

Nuby Two Handle No-Spill Cup Review

Image
I'm very excited to be reviewing another one of Nuby's great products for you.  And you definitely want to pay attention to this one, as you may never buy another sippy cup again for your little one. I was sent the Nuby Two Handle No-Spill Cup, and I knew it would be perfect for Charlie. She's pretty new to the whole sippy-cup only policy, and we're still spending a lot of time searching for the right one for her.  She can use a regular cup style one, but is much more comfortable with handles.  And according to Nuby the Two Handle No-Spill Cup "is perfect for beginners!  Your little one will find the transition from bottle to cup an easy one with the cup's soft silicone spout and unique contoured shape.  You will be delighted with the transition thanks to Nuby's valveless, leak resistant design."  The cup is also BPA free.   First off, let's go back to that part about the valveless design.  Do you know what this means?  It means this cup only...

Bare Fruit Review and GIVEAWAY

Image
I don't know about you, but finding healthy, easy, portable snacks for the girls is really a struggle sometimes.  So when Bare Fruit contacted me about reviewing their baked dried cinnamon apple crisps I jumped at the chance.  My girls {and Skip!} absolutely love eating apples, but they're not the easiest thing to just bring along in the car.  But crisps would be a whole other story! When I received my bag, I was so pleasantly surprised at the size of it.  This was not just a little snack bag, this was some serious apples!  These snacks are super healthy, organic, gluten and dairy free, low in calories, fat free, and like all apples, high in fiber.  The only ingredients?  Organic apples and organic cinnamon...doesn't get any simpler than that. But the best part?  Everyone in our family loved them!  I can't keep Skip out of the bag, haha.  I love that it's an easy way to get another serving of fruit into the girls. The peo...

A Day in the Life

Thirty Things #12: Describe a typical day in your life. This is actually a pretty tough question for me to answer since "typical" is not really in the vocabulary of a cop wife.  Since Skip's schedule switches between days and nights every week, and his days off change every week as well, we're all over the place. And that doesn't include the days he works a double shift.  So I'll describe a typical day when Skip works a 16 hour shift and it's just me and the girls all day. 7:00-8:00 - When the girls usually wake up.  I change diapers, brush teeth, etc. 8:00-8:30 - Both girls get sippies of milk and some breakfast...waffles, pancakes, cereal fruit..something like that 8:30-9:30 - Girls play in the house normally.  I try to do a little blogging, tidy up, get the dogs up and outside, make and drink lots and lots of coffee and get myself ready 9:30-12:00 Get the girls dressed...we then either play outside, go to the park, or run errands 12:00 - Lunch for both ...

Baby C Updates

Image
- Over the past month Baby C has been getting into a MUCH better nighttime routine.  More sleep for baby = more sleep for mommy = everyone is much happier!  95% of the time now, Baby C goes down for bed right around when Little M does, between 7:00 and 8:00 pm.  She then sleeps until about 4:00 am when she wakes for a feeding.  That normally takes between 30-45 minutes and she goes back down pretty easily.  She and Little M wake up around the same time every day, between 7:00 and 8:30 am.  Of course I'm not going to bed until midnight or 1:00 am so I'm not get a ton of sleep, but it's my own fault!  I cannot tell you how happy it makes me to get more than one or two hours of sleep at a time! - Since about 5 1/2 weeks, Baby C is a formula-only fed baby.  Because of her reflux I was exclusively pumping during the day and formula feeding at night.  But the breast milk was not filling her up enough {we had to top off with formula after every...

Adjusting Expectations

I have to be honest, when Little M was first born, Skip and I wondered why people with newborns were always complaining about not sleeping.  Right from the day she was born, Little M ate every three hours, except for the five hour stretch of sleep she would have at night.  She rarely napped during the day for her first few months of life, but sleeping at night was always spectacular, still is in fact.  Little M goes down to bed at 8 pm and sleeps until 8:30 or so.  And she'll sleep through anything as well, thunderstorms, dogs barking, babies crying, people coming over, even a 20+ person Christmas party we threw one year!  My first born sure loves her sleep. But my second girl, my brand new Baby C?  Hates sleeping at night apparently.  She sleeps all day long, well as long as someone is holding her or she's in the baby sling, but nighttime is her time to party.  We cannot get her to go to sleep in her crib before 1:00 or 2:00 am.  She then pr...

Big Girl Stuff

Image
I swear I don't know what happened to my little baby.  Every day she seems to be getting big and more mature.  And even though we're on vacation, she refuses to stop growing!  The other day we had to go make a few purchases for Little M.  Here is the first. Yup, that's my girl sitting at the table, eating dinner in her BOOSTER SEAT!!!  We have a portable high chair that my parent's bought that we bring down the shore with us.  We brought it down this time too, but the first few meals times, Little M would not stop screaming when we put her in it.  So my big sis L and I headed out to Target and picked up this booster seat.  We brought it home and Little M immediately loved it! Meals times have been so much more relaxing and she could not be more well behaved.  She sits and eats even better now than she did in her high chair!  I had planned on still using her big high chair at home for a little while longer, but I'm not sure she'll even si...

Lunch Time

I love eating grilled cheese {and dipping it in ketchup} sooo much.... I'll scream it from the rooftop! {or my highchair}

Self-Feeder

Image
Little M can get very fussy when she eats sometimes. From the moment she started eating a few finger foods, she was done letting us feed her anything! But recently she has been showing some interest in feeding herself some foods with a spoon. So I have been giving her some freedom with yogurt. It's very very messy, and I'm not sure how much is actually getting into her mouth, but I think it's important for her to learn to feed herself. Question to all the veteran moms out there though, when should a toddler be able to use utensils regularly? Enjoy the pics! What am I supposed to do with this? Eating the bottom of the container 'drinking' the yogurt Concentrating very hard She's got it! Yay! I did it!

And the Allergies Begin

Image
This is a staple in our household. Skip and I are huge fans of peanut butter. My favorite way to eat it is by dipping a huge chunk of chocolate into it...heaven. And we use this brand in particular because, well, my husband's nickname is Skip! Anyways, like I said we eat a lot of peanut butter around here. Well, there is one person in our house who will not be eating peanut butter again...this little girl We were giving Little M some lunch today and she was being very fussy and picky. So we decided to try some of these delicious peanut butter crackers Little M gobbled one down, but then just crumpled up the second, so we didn't give her any more. We cleaned her up and Skip took her upstairs to change her diaper. When he brought her back downstairs I noticed she kept rubbing her eyes and her face was getting all blotchy. Then her eyes starting watering and swelling up. 'Oh no,' I said, 'it's the peanut butter!' We quickly called the doctor and then c...
