'Twas the Night Before School

Last year a made a little video of Emmy answering some questions before her very first day of school.    So of course I had to do the same this year!  I cannot believe what a difference a year has made!

A Day for Me

Image
I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day yesterday!! We as moms work so hard , always putting others first, and it's nice to have a day that those efforts are recognized. If I'm being honest, I was kind of dreading Mother's Day this year.  It is the first one without my MIL, and I knew it was going to be a really hard day for all of us.  There was a decent amount of crying on my part on Saturday.  But then Skip said something so wonderful that really put things into perspective.  He said that we shouldn't be sad for his mom, since she was getting to spend Mother's Day with her  mother in heaven...and what a wonderful gift that was.  And while it was hard for the rest of us, we should just concentrate our efforts on those still here on Earth. He's a smart one that boy;-)   Skip's wonderful mindset really helped put my mind at ease and help me and enjoy the day. I was awoken at 10:30 {sweet!}.  There was no breakfast in bed, since Skip knows how ...

A New Tradition

Image
I've started a family tradition around here in the passed few weeks....Friday Movie Night.  Every Friday, after dinner has been eaten and the dishes all put away, we all sit on the couch together and pick out a movie to watch.   Sure Skip is pretty much always working on Friday nights it seems, and Charlie will only sit still for about 20 minutes max, but it's one of my most favorite things recently. Pouty faces I love the routine of it, the simplicity.  I love watching Emmy decide between two movies to watch, and her running commentary during the film. It's such a nice way to unwind and relax at the end of the week. I hope they always want to hang out with me on a Friday night!!  And apparently Emmy agrees!! Does your family do anything similar?  Game nights?  Reading nights?

Life as a Four Year Old

Image
I still can't believe my dear sweet baby Emmy is four years old already!  It has been so wonderful watching her grow from newborn to infant to toddler to kid .  There is no squishy babieness or clumsy toddlerness left in her.  She is all little girl now. But to be honest?  I'm really not sad that she's not a baby anymore.  Because this age?  So so fun!  These days we have actual conversations and can just hang out.  She has opinions and wants.  She can really play with us.  She sings and dances all over the house.  Emmy's like this awesome little person who hangs out with us all day.  Now do we have our rough moments?  Oh yes .  And in those moments I realize just how much Emmy is like me.  Picky eater...remembers everything...quick temper..stubborn..needs things to be just so in her room before she goes to bed.  But there are also a lot of  wonderful things about her that she gets from me....

Emmy Vlog!

I thought it would be fun to do a vlog about Emmy's favorite things on this the night before her very first day of school!  Enjoy!

A Bedtime Story

As part of her bedtime routine, Little M gets a story every night before she goes to sleep.  She gets to pick it out herself and most of the time we have a lot of repeats.  She'll want us to read her the same story every day for a few weeks before moving on to the next. The New Baby by Mercer Mayer is no exception to this.  In fact Little M loves several of these books.  So the other night when she asked us to read it, it was no surprise.  But what was a surprise was when she started reading it herself!  Now she's three, so she wasn't really reading it, but she's heard it so many times she memorized it! I thought it was just the cutest thing ever, so I filmed her the next day and just had to share with you all.  The weird noises she is making at the end of each page are supposed to be the sound effects Skip makes when he's reading it...she make have to work on that:) Enjoy!

Proudest Moment

So in case you are new around here and haven't heard already...I'm pretty much the biggest Giant's fan on the planet.  Seriously.  Who else waits for 4 hours online 9 months pregnant just to see Tiki Barber?  Or who convinces her unborn first child to make her appearance into the world the day before her due date so I won't miss the Giant's game that Sunday.  This girl, that's who. So obviously, I want to pass on my football love to my girls.  But Little M, has *hated* fooball pretty much since she could tell me her feelings.  Every Sunday she would constantly run around the house yelling, "No football, no football!!"  I always made her wear her jersey, but that's pretty much all she would do. But last night, the stars aligned and my girl finally saw the light.  It was the fourth quarter and the game was starting to get really close {we were playing the Patriots after all}.  Little M climbed up on the couch and said, "Hey Mommy, I watch footb...
