What I Hope as a Mother

Image
I took a few weeks off, but I'm excited to be linking up with Becky again today for her 52 Weeks of Blogging with a Purpose. Today's topic is our goals for motherhood. I have to be honest, my first instinct was to shy away from this topic.  It just seemed too big, too overwhelming, too deep.  But then I realized that I want to take a good long look at myself as a mother and what I hope for the future.  And what better way to keep me accountable than to blog about it! Emmy, Charlie, you girls are my whole world .  I live and breathe for you both and want to give you nothing but the absolute best of everything the world has to offer.  I obviously wasn't a mother before I had you girls, so these past four and half years have been a bit of a learning curve for me.  Especially once you could each walk and talk and it was way more parenting than just keeping you alive. I hope I improve as a mother every single day.  I hope each day is better than the last...

If I Could Be....

Image
I'm linking up with Becky for another week of 52 weeks of blogging with a purpose....this week's topic is If I Could Be Anything in the World.. It's funny to sit here at 30 years old and wonder, "What do I want to be when I grow up".  I mean, I pretty much am who I'm going to be right?  I'm a wife, mother, and former teacher....all things I had spent my entire life dreaming of.  I am grown up. But at the same time, I actually have been thinking a lot about a possible new career.  I 'retired' from teaching when I was five months pregnant with Emmy.  My plan is {and has worked out so far} to be a stay-at-home mom until Charlie is either in kindergarten or first grade.  I would love to just stay home forever, but with the high price of school tuition and living in one of the most expensive areas in the country, I will returning to the workforce eventually. My first instinct is to go back to teaching.  I loved teaching...it's what I'm certifie...

If I Won the Lottery

Image
I'm a little late in linking up with Becky this week, but this topic is so fun I just had to join in still!! This week we are talking about what I would do if I won the lottery. Okay, first and foremost I would probably totally and completely freak out .  Once I was done waking up the sleeping babies with my screaming and crying, we would get a plan in order. First, I would have a lawyer claim my money {don't want any creep-o's from my past trying to get their paws on my money}.  We would obviously max out the girls college funds first, set aside enough for their elementary and high school tuition, and invest a huge chunk of it.  Now onto the fun stuff! I'd probably encourage Skip to quit his job.  I'd definitely want a bigger house...nothing too huge, but definitely lots more room. Our family and friends would be well taken care of as well. I'd want to take a long, possible two week trip with Skip and the girls to Disney.  Then I'd want to take another tri...

My Weaknesses

Image
52 Weeks of Blogging With a Purpose: Your Biggest Weakness Wow, talk about putting it all out there on the Internet.  Writing a post all about the things I need to work on is a little intimidated....so much so that I almost skipped this week's link-up entirely.  But maybe putting myself out there, admitting how far from perfect I am, will help me to change some of these things.  Then I won't have to be ashamed of them anymore. I am judgemental . This is the trait I really want to change the most.  I hate that I judge people.  I judge their actions, the way they live their lives.  Never to their faces of course, but that doesn't make it better.  Even having thoughts about how I think people should live their lives differently is wrong.  Who am I to judge them on decisions they make when I know mine are far from perfect most of the time.  I have a temper. Honestly, I never really knew I had a temper until Skip and I got married and moved in to...

In Five Years....

Image
When I was younger, I would constantly wonder what the next year would bring, the next five, the next ten. But since most of my days are spent wiping faces and tidying up toys, I rarely have time to think that far into the future anymore.  In five years: I'll be 35 {ouch} Skip and I will celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary Emmy will be 9 and Charlie 7 I'll be working somewhere again.  Probably as a teacher, but my dream would be to find something to do from home Who knows what Skip's work schedule will look like We probably will have upgraded my car to something a little bigger.  I have an Xterra that I love but it's really not as big as I originally thought.  I'm holding out hope for the Armada next I hope we've gone on some awesome family vacations.  Disney again..plenty of trips to the beach...possibly the Outer Banks Hopefully Shiba will still be with us and maybe we will have added a bulldog back into the mix I'm hoping to have a new couch and a f...
