New Fall Finds

Image
We are officially knee deep in fall {in case you missed someone posting a picture of a PSL on Instagram}.  It's no secret that I attempt to cling to summer as long as I can.  But with highs in the 60's and lows in the 40's, I think I'm finally going to have to put away the flip flops. To ease the blow of the cooler temperatures, I always treat myself to a few new things to add to my wardrobe.  {By the way this is not a sponsored post, just things I bought recently that I'm loving!}  Kohls and Target have been my go-to places recently when I need clothes.  Almost every day in the fall, I can be seen in some combination of the follow: tall boots, skinny jeans, tank top, cardigan or tunic, scarf.  I know, pretty much what most women my age are wearing these days...but there's a reason...it's so cute and comfy!  I wanted to add a few tops in my wardrobe this year to help change things up a little.  Here are the pieces I got! Kohls: I actually got this...

Lady in Red

I have seen a few people blogging about the prom, specifically their prom dresses today, so I decided to jump in on the fun!  I went to my senior prom in May of 2001 {wow I'm old}.  I bought this dress for under $100 at Lord & Taylor.  I loved that it was bold, and yet very simple.  I had hoped I would get a lot of use out of it. Well I think I got more than my money's worth on it!  Not only did I wear it to my senior prom, I wore it to lots of other events over the years as well! My senior prom The senior prom at the public school in my town Fall 2001 - college semi formal  I also wore it for the ball at West Point the night before my cousin graduated, but I cannot find pictures from that night anywhere! Spring 2004 - Spring semi in college Fall 2005 - Marine Corps Ball Spring 2007 - Gala dinner for my dad's business Even cooler?  Jennifer Aniston wore the exact same dress  on Friends one episode!  I'd like to think she stole her style f...

Fashionista Friday

Lindsey is bringing back her Fashionista Friday Link-up and you know I just had to join in with my Jersey girl!! Today's topic is Favorite Neutrals, and this is what I came up with: Blacks and browns are my g0-to neutrals in the fall, and love that the leopard print spices them up a little! What neutrals are you wearing these days? Happy weekend everyone!!

What I Wore Wednesday

I've been really trying to make more of an effort when I get dressed these days.  One, I can't really justify buying any new cute clothes if I never wear the ones I already have.  And two, I really do  feel better about myself, and more ready to take on the day when I'm wearing something other than yoga pants. Now I am no fashion blogger, that's for sure, but here's a few things I've thrown together recently. As you can tell, I'm a huge fan of skinnies, scarves, and layers these days! Don't worry, as husb will attest to, I still rock my sweatpants pretty regularly too;-) I've been trying to pull a lot of my fashion inspiration for Pinterest these days.  What about you?  How do you put together outfits?

I have to admit, I absolutely love getting Emmy dressed before school in the morning.  It's just so fun to pick out little outfits for her!  And since she'll be in a uniform next year, I'm going to soak it up while I can. Here are some of the looks we've come up with this year! The denim jacket is what totally makes most of these outfits! I get most of Emmy's clothes from Carters.  I'll also grab some pieces at Old Navy and Kohls. I'm linking up with Kelly today!!

Cute and Casual, not Oversized and Frumpy

Image
I fear this winter is never going to end.  Every day we inch closer to March, the weather still remains the same.  Cold .  Really really cold.  There's possible snow forcasted for later in the week.  I'm over it. And I don't know about you, but I have no desire to dress up or look cute when it's this cold.  I just want to stay in my womens pajamas curled up in bed, hibernating till spring.  Lucky Skip .  But even though I'm freezing all the time, I really don't want to become that wife .  The one who constantly looks frumpy and disheveled.  Let's be seriously, giant Marine Corps sweatshirts paired with stretched out grey sweatpants is just not attractive .  And I don't even have a newborn to blame it on though my kids are sleeping like newborns recently but that's a post for another day. So the other day, Skip and I took the girls to the mall to get a birthday present for one of Emmy's school friends.  When we got...

What to wear in September

Image
I don't know what the weather is like where you live, but here in Jersey the weather gets a little strange here once the calender switches to September.  It's still really warm during the day {70's and 80's} but it drops down to the 60's, 50's and sometimes even 40's at night.  And since it's post labor day, it's not exactly appropriate to be rocking all my summer favorites.  So this often poses a real challenge when it comes to clothes. The past few years, since I'm a SAHM, I have just lived in yoga pants, a tank top, and a zippie {a zip-up hooded sweatshirt} most of the time.  But since I have to take Emmy to school now, I don't want to be that frumpy mom standing in the pick-up and drop-off area.  Here are some of the outfits I've been throwing together.  I've been working hard on finding things that I can easily add or take away clothes as the temperature changes, instead of changing my outfit 109834598 times a day. {Sorry for the...

Fashionista Friday!

Image
I'm very excited to be linking up with the fabulous Lindsey again for her Fashionista Friday!  I've been trying to stretch my usual fashion limits these days.  So when Skip said we were going to a BBQ at the house one of of the other cops, I decided to try something new.  Now I've actually had this dress for a few years now, but I think I've only worn it once before.  I tend to shy away from stripes, and orange is rarely in my closet, but I figured I'd give it a shot!  And you know what, I'm glad I did.  The dress was so comfortable and I felt pretty confident in it by the end of the day. How often do you stretch your fashion limits?  What have you been wearing recently? Come link up with Lindsey ! Psst....and as a bonus outfit, you know I'll be wearing something along these lines today...GO BIG BLUE!!!!

Fashionista Friday

I'm so excited to finally be linking up with the ever lovely Lindsey for her Fashionista Friday!!! Excluding the past two weeks, I've been trying to make a real effort to get out of my workout clothes. I do actually work out almost every day, so I felt justified in rocking Soffee shorts and a tank top all day. But I do feel much better about myself when I make a little more effort than that. Here's some of the outfits I've been wearing recently. As you can see, I really love shorts...I'll be so sad when the summer is over!
