We did it! We survived the first full week of school....wahoo! I won't lie, this transition into two girls in school all day, every day, has been tougher than I anticipate.  It requires a lot more organization and I'm constantly worried I'll forget something.  We'll get there though. Charlie is adjusting slowly but surely.  She would prefer to still be at home with me {who wouldn't} but before she knows it, she'll learn to love school, I'm sure. Unfortunately the poor girl got hit with her first taste of school germs and was home sick two days this week.  But she's feeling all better now!  With two in school, I feel like it's going to be a long winter of germs. Emmy started her third year of dance on Wednesday.  I absolutely love the school she is in, and she was happy that her best friend from dance was back again this year. I've been spending my free hours during the day writing and editing.  Oh yeah, I don't think I mentioned on here yet, ...

Today my baby went off to preschool.  My baby!  My sweet precious girl that has been home with me for over four years now. Now someone else will watch over her all day.  Today and tomorrow are half days, but after that, she'll be gone days a week, full day of school It's going to be a big change. I'm not sure she's ready. I'm not sure I'm ready. But with other things in life, sometimes you just have to jump right in and hope to come out okay on the other end. We'll both struggle, but both thrive as well. And for today?  She walked in confidently...only waving goodbye to me as she started exploring. Even I haven't shed a tear yet {though that could change} So now I'm off to hang out with my man :)

My sweet little baby headed off to first grade this morning!  I cannot believe how big she's gotten. She could barely sleep last night, she was so excited.  I have never met a child who loves school more than my Emmy. This is the first year we didn't get to walk her to her classroom.  We just dropped her by the main door and in she went. This is her fourth year at this school, so we're veteran parents at this point. But I would be lying if I said my heart didn't lurch in my throat as I hugged her goodbye.  It's never easy to let someone else take care of your kid. But as every year, she will shine at school.  She'll make new friends and learn so much. And hey, at least I didn't cry this year! Now I can't promise the same won't happen on Thursday for Charlie's first day!

Every year I make a video of Emmy the day before she starts school.  I ask her the same questions every year, and love seeing how her answers change!  This year I typed up her answer to include on the blog. It was a big day around here yesterday.  Emmy finished up her last day of kindergarten!  {they don't call it graduating at her school}.  This has probably been the toughest year for her.  There was homework every day, mandatory computer time at home, and she dealt with a teacher change in the middle of the year.  Her first teacher had a baby in the winter, and went on maternity leave for a few weeks.  Thankfully the teacher who filled in for her was fabulous, but it has been a lot of adjustments for Emmy.   Her class had a special ceremony at school we all got to go to.  Thankfully Skip was actually off for it!  They all had lines for their play about the gingerbread man and sang a whole bunch of songs.  It was adorable.  They did receive certificates from the priest.  I didn't cry, but I may have been able to picture her doing this a few years from now at her 8th grade graduation. And I realized just how quickly that will come...
