So How Was Your Weekend?

I was really excited leading up to last weekend.  My mom was coming up to stay with the girls Saturday night so Skip and I could go into the city.  We were going to meet up with some of my college friends to go see the Rockefeller Center tree, and then go out to dinner.  Skip had never seen the tree in person before {?!?!?!} so I was really excited to experience that with him. The first hiccup in our plans was the impending rain.  Not fun to stand outside in the pouring rain and stare at a tree.  The girls and I decided if it was too bad, then we'd just meet for dinner instead.  Problem solved. The next problem arose about 4:15 am Friday morning when Emmy suddenly came down with the stomach flu.  I thought we'd have to cancel our plans for sure.  But she was only sick for a few hours and improved greatly as the day went on.  So I bleached everything in sight and carried on with our plans. Saturday morning Emmy felt great, so my mom came up as...

Weekend Update

Skip was off on Saturday and we were determined to make the most of it.  That combined with some amazing 80* weather made it the perfect day for some outside activities. Skip and Emmy have hone fishing together a few times, and Charlie wanted to get in on the fun.  So all four of us packed up and headed to a small pond to try and catch some fish. Both girls did really well and despite the fact that we only caught one fish, everyone had a great time! We went home for lunch and naps and then headed back out to a little pumpkin patch I had seen earlier.  There was a petting zoo, giant blow up slide, and plenty of fall fun. It was a great day with our little family, We topped off the weekend with some church and out to lunch before Skip had to go to work.  The girls sat together on one side of the booth for the first time, so Skip and I actually got to sit next to each other!  It was so nice. The girls and I then spent the afternoon watching football and painting th...

Weekend Update

In addition to our Memorial Day being so wonderful, our entire weekend was pretty awesome as well.  Skip worked the day shift Friday, and then was off all weekend.... yes that's right, Saturday and Sunday too!  A real treat, let me tell you.   We kicked off Friday by heading in to Brooklyn for the wedding of one of my college girls.  Unfortunately we missed the ceremony due to the crazy  traffic in Manhattan.  At least there was plenty to look at while stuck in traffic! George Washington Bridge The Intrepid Freedom Tower The actual wedding was gorgeous and so much fun .  I love a night out with my man, and getting to spend time with these girls and their husbands! Thankfully there was no traffic on the way home...just an insane thunderstorm.  Always something right! Saturday was a relaxing day spend taking Emmy to dance, just hanging out in the afternoon, and an in-home movie night with Skip once the girls went to bed.   Sunday morning was sp...

A Normal Weekend

Image
I rarely, if ever, do a "weekend recap" post here on the blog.  I'm not opposed to them, it's just that our weekends are usually not very note-worthy.  Skip is normally working more overtime that normal...and the girls and I really just become home-bodies because of that.  It also has been much too cold to do anything more than that, so our weekends are pretty boring. But not this past weekend, it was wonderful  and something I really needed to help get me through this last push of winter.  First off, Skip was home....on a Saturday and Sunday....both of them...all day long.  If you're a cop wife, you know how very rare that is.  I'm pretty sure he hasn't been off on a weekend since well before Christmas.  And yes, I understand that he is off two other days during the week, but with Emmy in school full-time, that means she gets to spend much less time with Skip now.  It's also nearly impossible to try and do things together as a family.  ...
