Carnivals and Hospitals

Image
Today is already feeling very Monday-ish, but at least the sunshine and hot weather are helping!  I am absolutely loving this early summer feel. Skip has been working normal hours the past few weeks...home for dinner, off on weekends.  It's AMAZING!!  This is what you're all treated to every day?!?  It really is the greatest thing ever, and I've been soaking up all the family time we've gotten.  Sadly, it all ends this week, but it was nice while it lasted. School pictures came in this week.  I absolutely love my big girl's sweet face! It's carnival time around here in New Jersey.  For the next few weeks all the local schools seem to have carnivals to raise money.  It's a little pricey, but fantastic.  We've been taking Emmy for years, but never brought Charlie before.  Last Tuesday we all went as a family.  The girls had such a fabulous time!  I loved watching their little excited faces on each of the rides. Looks like we're g...

It's been a really  long time since I did any sort of updating on here, so it looks like a random list post is in order! - I miss blogging.  I know hardly anyone blogs, or even reads them anymore, but I love having a record of our lives to look back on.  Must get better about it. - I've been away so much because I've been knee-deep in finishing my novel.  Well, 8 months, 93,706 words, 337 pages double spaced later, it's done!  I've finished my query letter and synopsis as well.  I spent all weekend researching agents and narrowed it down to the first handful I'm going to send out my stuff to.  I'll be querying them this week and then it'll be time to sit back and wait for the rejections to roll in.  It's exciting and nerve wracking all at the same time.  I'll probably take a little time off writing for a bit then start diving into my next novel! - I was walking in the kitchen the other day and slipped.  Don't worry, I caught myself on th...

This and That

March is quickly taking the place of February as my least favorite month ever.  Yes, it is slightly  warmer and there's less snow on the ground, but it's so depressing that it's still not warm yet.  We better have the hottest summer on record just to make up for this. Just to add insult to injury, our shed blew apart in the high winds.  Sadly this has happened before during Hurricane Sandy.  Skip is less than thrilled about having to put it together again.  I'm pretty sure he fell asleep looking at houses in Florida. Skip and I got a date night this weekend thanks to my big sis.  We had a nice dinner, wandered around Barnes and Noble, and then ran some errands.  It was so nice to spend some time with him! Skip and Emmy had a special father/daughter Girl Scout square dance on Sunday.  They had such a great time and both looked adorable! I am still working on my book and getting things ready to send in when I'm ready to have it published. ...

Winter weather...Stars Hollow...Oscars...this post has it all! - This winter has been rough  on me.  I do not do well in the cold dreary temps.  And I really  don't do well when you see temps like -21 when you have to take your kid to school.  We're not Canada...this is not normal for Jersey. - We had to unfreeze the pipes twice  last week.  Thankfully Skip was home for the first one.  And yes, we keep out heat at 70* at night, open all the cabinet doors, and put all the faucets on to drip at night.  We're just that lucky. - Needless to say last week was  loooooong .  I feel like I can never get warm, no matter how many pairs of pants you're wearing at once.  You know it's a bad winter when yesterday reached 38* and you practically ran through the streets wearing shorts. - Even though the snow threatened to derail our plans, Skip and I managed to sneak out for a little date night Saturday!  Our town, in continuing to striv...

Monday Mash Up

Oh random Monday post, how I've missed you so!  It's been a long time and beyond necessary to resurrect you today. {one} We woke up to some snow on Saturday.  Even I had to admit it looked beautiful.  {two} We're finally all better...WAHOO!!  Other than some lingering cough and drippy noses, the great flu/virus whatever of 2015 has finally vacated.  I even got dressed in real clothes for the first time in a week yesterday! {three} Yesterday was also the first time I left the house in a week.  Yes, seriously. Yes, I'm a month behind on coloring my hair. CVS has never looked so good. {four} Good thing I got in my big day out while I could, because we're currently expecting a history-making snow storm...though we're down to only 2ft instead of 3, so that's hopeful. {five} Emmy's school had an early dismissal today, but I just called her out.  With Skip working a double shift and coming home in the worst of it, and only having one car with four wheel drive...

It may be Monday, and I may have been up for two hours in the middle of the night, but I still know this is going to be a good day.  I think the slight sunburn I'm rocking from yesterday and the fact that it's going to flirt with 80* again today have something to do with it! We're just going to ignore the fact that it will be in the 30's again by Wednesday. Emmy was fine all morning as we were getting ready for school, but then got very upset when we were in the car.  She kept saying that she missed Braddock and was nervous about going to school.  I gave her teacher a head's up to keep an eye on her.  I hope she has a good day!!  It's going to be a long one for me as I'm already counting down the minutes until I can get her. I finally took out my 'big girl camera' after months of collecting dusts and snapped a few pictures of the girls!  I'll share some more of these later in the week. Emmy's dance recital information was handed out during cl...
