Carnivals and Hospitals

Today is already feeling very Monday-ish, but at least the sunshine and hot weather are helping!  I am absolutely loving this early summer feel. Skip has been working normal hours the past few weeks...home for dinner, off on weekends.  It's AMAZING!!  This is what you're all treated to every day?!?  It really is the greatest thing ever, and I've been soaking up all the family time we've gotten.  Sadly, it all ends this week, but it was nice while it lasted. School pictures came in this week.  I absolutely love my big girl's sweet face! It's carnival time around here in New Jersey.  For the next few weeks all the local schools seem to have carnivals to raise money.  It's a little pricey, but fantastic.  We've been taking Emmy for years, but never brought Charlie before.  Last Tuesday we all went as a family.  The girls had such a fabulous time!  I loved watching their little excited faces on each of the rides. Looks like we're g...

Winter weather...Stars Hollow...Oscars...this post has it all! - This winter has been rough  on me.  I do not do well in the cold dreary temps.  And I really  don't do well when you see temps like -21 when you have to take your kid to school.  We're not Canada...this is not normal for Jersey. - We had to unfreeze the pipes twice  last week.  Thankfully Skip was home for the first one.  And yes, we keep out heat at 70* at night, open all the cabinet doors, and put all the faucets on to drip at night.  We're just that lucky. - Needless to say last week was  loooooong .  I feel like I can never get warm, no matter how many pairs of pants you're wearing at once.  You know it's a bad winter when yesterday reached 38* and you practically ran through the streets wearing shorts. - Even though the snow threatened to derail our plans, Skip and I managed to sneak out for a little date night Saturday!  Our town, in continuing to striv...

Monday Mash Up

Oh random Monday post, how I've missed you so!  It's been a long time and beyond necessary to resurrect you today. {one} We woke up to some snow on Saturday.  Even I had to admit it looked beautiful.  {two} We're finally all better...WAHOO!!  Other than some lingering cough and drippy noses, the great flu/virus whatever of 2015 has finally vacated.  I even got dressed in real clothes for the first time in a week yesterday! {three} Yesterday was also the first time I left the house in a week.  Yes, seriously. Yes, I'm a month behind on coloring my hair. CVS has never looked so good. {four} Good thing I got in my big day out while I could, because we're currently expecting a history-making snow storm...though we're down to only 2ft instead of 3, so that's hopeful. {five} Emmy's school had an early dismissal today, but I just called her out.  With Skip working a double shift and coming home in the worst of it, and only having one car with four wheel drive...

It may be Monday, and I may have been up for two hours in the middle of the night, but I still know this is going to be a good day.  I think the slight sunburn I'm rocking from yesterday and the fact that it's going to flirt with 80* again today have something to do with it! We're just going to ignore the fact that it will be in the 30's again by Wednesday. Emmy was fine all morning as we were getting ready for school, but then got very upset when we were in the car.  She kept saying that she missed Braddock and was nervous about going to school.  I gave her teacher a head's up to keep an eye on her.  I hope she has a good day!!  It's going to be a long one for me as I'm already counting down the minutes until I can get her. I finally took out my 'big girl camera' after months of collecting dusts and snapped a few pictures of the girls!  I'll share some more of these later in the week. Emmy's dance recital information was handed out during cl...

Poor Emmy is home with a stomach bug today.  It was yesterday she was sick, and thankfully she seems to be all better this morning.  Still had to keep her home though since she had a fever last night, and while I'm sad she was sick, I'm excited to have another snuggly day with my girls. And as we are on day #4 of cold, damp rain, staying in the house is not  something I am minding today.  I think I shall declare it a pajama day! As of today I am officially out of my salted caramel mocha coffee creamer:(  It is my most favorite creamer ever, but only offered seasonally during Christmastime.  I planned a bit better this year and stockpiled as much as I could in the freezer.  Considering they stop selling it at the beginning of January, that's pretty good in my book.  Now how to convince Skip to get a second freezer just to store enough to last me year 'round....hmm... Last Wednesday something amazing happened.  For the first time in eight month...

Happy Monday everyone!  It's really is  pretty happy around here, as today is Skip's first day off...and let me tell you, the break is very much needed. This weekend was a bit of a struggle around here.  I was sick, again,  Skip was barely home at all due to constant work and overtime, and Emmy had school on Saturday.  Yes, you read that right, Saturday.  With all the snow days they've had this year, they had to make them up somehow!  So Saturdays was the solution.  Thankfully Emmy just loves  school, so she was more than excited to go. I really really  wanted to cave and order in some take-out on Sunday.  I had a fever and felt really sick, the girls were especially whiny and nothing in the house appealed to me.  I am proud that I stayed strong and resisted! So sometimes when I spent too much time alone in the house with the girls, I manage to convince myself to make bad choice.  Thursday was one of those days.  I th...
