A Power Ranger Dance Party

Image
I have gotten embarrassingly behind on things I want to blog about, but hopefully this weekend I can get caught up a bit! Let's start off with a recap of Emmy's birthday, back on Saturday November 29th.  First off, I loved that her birthday was on a Saturday this year, because she was born on a Saturday as well.  It made for a lot of reminiscing about the day she was born. She woke up nice and early and came bounding into our room.  She could barely contain her excitement over the day. We went downstairs for some gift opening and donut eating {after we sang happy birthday and she blew out the candle in the donut of course} We relaxed for a bit and then got ready for her "friend party". We invited all the girls in her class and one of my bestie's and her three daughters, and had it at Emmy's dance school.  Per Emmy's request it was Power Ranger themed, and the girls all had a fabulous time!  {well except Charlie who apparently thinks dancing is the most evi...

Ringing in the New Year

Image
Skip and I have had a New Year's Eve party for the past few years, and it ends up being the same people every year.  It's been such a great tradition and we were excited to carry it on again this year!  We made it a pot-luck meal which took a lot of stress off me.  Plus I love trying everything that people bring! It was a laid-back, relaxed evening filled with lots of talking and laughs. My best friends L and M....2014 will be a fabulous year for them as L is pregnant with a sweet baby girl!!! I have no words Me and B We had put the girls to bed at their normal time {mean mommy} but did wake Emmy up around 11:40.  She was not  happy with me at first, but perked up right at midnight! Lots of hugs, some more laughs, and a 2:00 am bedtime for us was the best way to ring in 2014!!

A Bouncing Good Time

I don't know about where you live, but around here it's pretty popular to have birthday parties for your kid, and invite their whole class to it.  We didn't have one for Emmy last year, but she went to plenty  for kids in her class.  We decided to save her first class party for this year when she turned five. I'm not crazy enough to have 18 kids over my house, so we definitely wanted to rent a place to do it.  After lots and lots of research, we finally settled on this bounce place about 15 minutes away.  For an hour the kids would play in two different rooms filled  with blow-up bounce castles, slides, etc.  Then we would bring everyone into the party room for pizza and cake. The price tag was a little more than I would have liked to spend, but the place literally did everything  for us.  Invitations, food, decorations, party favors, they did it all!  We just had to show up and have a good time. We held the party on November 30th and Em...

Happy Fifth Birthday to the one who made me a mom

Image
My sweet Emmy.  I barely know where to begin on this post.  Here were are November 29, 2013.  Your fifth birthday.  FIFTH!  As mother's we also have a tough time with our kids birthdays, as they seem to come by quicker and quicker each year.  This year being no different.  But something about FIVE seems so so old to me. You fit five very well my little girl.  You are so  independent and really becoming your own person.  You have likes, dislikes and a real personality.  You are a total sweetheart and really tune in to other people's emotions.  You are extremely well mannered and so so smart.  I cannot believe how close you are to reading already. You absolutely love school and all of your friends.  You work so hard  at everything and are always practicing your school work at home.  You have tons of friends, and they all love holding hands with you, and following whatever you want. We started you on dance this...

Party Details

"You Are My Sunshine" is Charlie's favorite song.  So it was pretty much a no-brainer when it came to thinking of what theme to have for her second birthday. I browsed for some ideas for Pinterest, but mainly came up with everything by myself.  I try and come up with a party theme a few months in advance so I can take my time searching for decorations.  For this party I got all the supplies at Michaels, Party City, and Five and Below. For the food, I made the cupcakes, cookies, and macaroni salad myself.  We ordered two 3 ft sandwiches from Stop & Shop.  For drinks I made some lemonade and put out bottled water. Now for all the pictures!! I made the little signs on PicMonkey and printed them out on stock paper.  I taped them onto extra tall toothpicks.  I got these cute little boxes in the dollar section of Michaels and filled them with M&Ms....simple and easy! I ordered this vinyl online and put it onto this piece of wood I had painted I made ...
