Potty Training Success Tips

Well, it's official.  My sweet littlest, my Charlie bear, is potty trained!!  Other than some pull-ups at naps and bedtime, we are a totally diaper-free house.  And I'll be honest, man that feels good . Potty training is probably one of my least favorite parenting experiences, but once it's done, it's such an accomplishment for both  of you.  It's definitely a lot of hard work and diligence, but I really believe it can be done in a matter of a few days when done right.  Now, I'm definitely  no expert, but as I've been through this twice now and we all came out of it relatively unscathed, I figured it was worth a shot to share my tips and tricks with you! {one} Wait until your kid is ready.  This is definitely the most important step.  Just after Emmy turned 2, I attempted to potty train her.   I  wanted her to be out of diapers, more than she did.  After a full day of both of us crying, I tabled the whole thing for a few months...

Potty Training Take Two

See this little girl right here? That's my baby...my little bumbling toddler.  But now that she is POTTY TRAINED I don't think I can call her anything other than a girl anymore:(  I am soooo proud of her and how far we've come. Remember this post I wrote a few months ago about how we started, and then promptly stopped potty training Little M?  Well putting it down completely for a few months was probably one of the best things we did.  She obviously wasn't ready and the fact that we backed off really helped.  But a few weeks ago we figured it was time to start again.  She seemed much more ready this time and I was looking forward to only having one kid in diapers.  We started on a Thursday.  The first two days were hard...they made me want to give up.  Little M was finally going to the bathroom in the potty, but she was having as many accidents as she was successes.  But we kept on and didn't quit.  We had decided to just dive hea...

Saturday Morning Scene

We're linking up again this week with Katie for her Saturday Morning Scene! We're spending a lot of time in the family room just hanging out... watching some TV.... and pushing fluids Because as of Thursday we are spending most of our days in here: We are potty training Little M {again}!  It is not for the weak, let me tell you.  But we are definitely making more progress than last time I attempted this!  Hopefully a few more days of staying in will make her officially diaper free!

How I Started [and Stopped} Potty Training in 24 Hours

At the beginning of May, Skip and I decided it was time to start potty training Little M.  We bought a potty in the summer, and have watched the Elmo Potty video about a million times since then, but never really made a big deal out of the whole thing.  But with New Baby's impending arrival, we thought it would be a good time to do our own version of Potty Training Boot camp.  Little M was almost 2 1/2 {what I thought would be an ideal age} was able to take her clothes off and on, and was able to sit still for at least a few minutes at a time.  I assumed we were ready I always knew that I did not want to drag potty training on for months and months on end, just my personal preference.  Once we started, there would be no going back.  I would not go back and forth between underpants, diapers, and pull-ups. {Well, pull-ups would be done at night still since night training solely depends on their physical development, and can take a lot longer}  I was prep...
