Wednesday Ramblings

Thank you so much for all the anniversary wishes yesterday!  I still can't believe it's been nine years .  It sure goes by in a flash. Skip and I kept the day pretty simple.  We exchanged cards in the morning and had a little in-home date night.  We ordered some Italian food to eat while the girls were in bed, and watched a movie.  It was a perfect, relaxing evening to celebrate our marriage! Today marks two years since we lost our sweet Braddock.  In light of all the death we have experienced in the past few years, it seems silly to still be upset over the loss of a dog, but I can't help it; I am.  He was my little boy and I still miss him every day. We had another really busy weekend this week.  We took Emmy into the city for the first time on Friday {separate post coming on that}. Saturday was spent at a pool party a guy Skip works with threw.  Girls were obsessed  with the pool, and were swimming for the entire few hours we were ther...

The Good that Followed the Bad

Last week was a hard weekend for so many people.  A passenger plane was shot out of the sky...not one, but two NJ cops near me were killed in the line of duty....a friend of mine passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, rocking us all to our core, and leaving behind a young thirties widower.  Last week was a bad week.  There were plenty of tears, consoling, and lots and lots of cleaning to keep busy.   We were lucky that after such a tough week, one of our best friends was coming to stay with us for the weekend.  In those four days, I laughed more than I have in a long time.  We ate good food, worked out hard, shared stories, and adults and kids alike played hard.   There were BBQ's, playground visits, trips to the zoo, hide-and-seek, and the most epic water fight you've ever seen.  We went to bed way too late and got up much earlier than needed.  And we enjoyed every second. Setting up cover for the water fight, obviously  I felt guilty a...

Surprise!!

...a little continuation of our kid-free/birthday weekend.   Saturday morning Skip and I slept in until 11:30!!  Sadly we had to set an alarm to make sure we got up then, as we probably could have slept all day!! But since I had an appointment to permanently alter my body at 2:00pm, we had to get a move on.     Once I was all inked up, Skip and I spent the rest of the afternoon running errands and just relaxing.  It was really amazing just how quiet the house was without the girls.  In the early evening, we finally peeled ourselves off the couch to get ready for another night our with friends.    My bestie thought that a few of us were just going out to dinner.  What she didn't know is that her sister, friend, and I had been planning a surprise birthday party for her for WEEKS now!  I have been sweating it the whole time...how will we get her there...will she suspect anything...will she have fun....will it all go on okay without an...

Dance into a New Decade

Image
I think this past weekend was the perfect way to kick off being 30!  Friday was a nice lazy, relaxing day spent with family, eating pizza and cake, and taking not one but TWO naps:)  Around 3:30, Skip and I dropped the girls off at my parents house for a two night sleepover!  It was the longest I've ever been away from the girls, and while I was a little anxious and sad, I was pretty excited for some kid free time.  Early morning snuggles from my girl Flowers from the husb Emmy enjoyed the cake But not as much as Charlie That night Skip, my sisters, a whole bunch of my friends and I headed into Hoboken to do a little dancing!  It's been years since I'd been to a bar I could dance at, and I was so excited!!  I know I had a fabulous time and I think everyone else did too!  It was relaxed, crowded but not too bad, and the DJ played a great mix of music!  All dressed up! With heals on too! I've had this shirt for about a decade...love the back too muc...
