Cute and Casual, not Oversized and Frumpy

I fear this winter is never going to end.  Every day we inch closer to March, the weather still remains the same.  Cold.  Really really cold.  There's possible snow forcasted for later in the week.  I'm over it.

And I don't know about you, but I have no desire to dress up or look cute when it's this cold.  I just want to stay in my womens pajamas curled up in bed, hibernating till spring.  Lucky Skip

But even though I'm freezing all the time, I really don't want to become that wife.  The one who constantly looks frumpy and disheveled.  Let's be seriously, giant Marine Corps sweatshirts paired with stretched out grey sweatpants is just not attractive.  And I don't even have a newborn to blame it on though my kids are sleeping like newborns recently but that's a post for another day.

So the other day, Skip and I took the girls to the mall to get a birthday present for one of Emmy's school friends.  When we got inside, Skip suggested I go off alone for a little retail therapy.  Love that man.  I headed over to Old Navy since I had something to return there.

After trying on about a million different items, I finally settled on five shirts.  {one of them was a black and white checked flannel shirt, but I couldn't find a picture online and I'm too lazy to go upstairs and take a picture of it myself.

They're all SO soft and comfortable.  The long tunic-style tops are perfect with skinny jeans and a scarf.  {and you see how I got one in royal blue like my hospital gown after you all complimented the color?}

The two on the right {striped and grey, not black} are super soft and look equally as good with jeans and yoga pants...cause let's be serious, I'm never giving those up completely.

I definitely feel more cute and casual in my new clothes than frumpy!  And they're still nice and warm, as winter refuses to give up its hold on us.

What about you?  What kinds of outfits do you where to stay looking good, yet comfy at the same time?

  1. I am a leggings and tunic kind of girl for sure! If I want to shake it up, I'll wear red skinny jeans and a long cardigan. :)

  2. I'm struggling this winter to stay looking cute. I sometimes buy my clothes too big because I'm thinking nice and cozy, but then it ends up frumpy. I'm better at sizing the spring clothes.

  4. I'm loving Old Navy's clothes right now! They're my go-to for when I want to look cute and put together while not having to send anything to the dry cleaner.

    My go-to outfit would probably be gym clothes, and then jeans and a cute hoodie or sweater depending on what my day has in store.
