If I Could Be....
I'm linking up with Becky for another week of 52 weeks of blogging with a purpose....this week's topic is If I Could Be Anything in the World..
It's funny to sit here at 30 years old and wonder, "What do I want to be when I grow up". I mean, I pretty much am who I'm going to be right? I'm a wife, mother, and former teacher....all things I had spent my entire life dreaming of. I am grown up.
But at the same time, I actually have been thinking a lot about a possible new career. I 'retired' from teaching when I was five months pregnant with Emmy. My plan is {and has worked out so far} to be a stay-at-home mom until Charlie is either in kindergarten or first grade. I would love to just stay home forever, but with the high price of school tuition and living in one of the most expensive areas in the country, I will returning to the workforce eventually.
My first instinct is to go back to teaching. I loved teaching...it's what I'm certified in...I think it's what I'm good at. But teaching is so much work....especially when I'd then have kids to come home to, and a husband with really strange work hours. Maybe something else would be better for our family?
But what?
In a perfect world {which is what this blog post represents} I would love to work from the USO or the Department of Veteran's Affairs, from home.
I have such a passion for helping our men and women in uniform, in any way I can. But I would also love a job I can mostly do from home as to still make my family my #1 priority. I am hopeful that as I live so close to NYC, and could easily pop in once a week for a meeting or something, that this could be possible.
I honestly have no idea if the USO even has work from home jobs, but I have a few more years to figure it out. I'm hoping if it's not something they offer yet, then maybe I can be the first!!
So are you living your dream? What else would you do if you could?
