Lola

It is with a very heavy heart that I am writing this post today.  I found out yesterday that Laura, or Lola as I first knew her in the blog world, is now being taken care of by hospice and is not expected to live much longer. Lola's blog, Alis Volat Propriis {She Flies With Her Own Wings} was one of the first I found when I started blogging.  Lola also followed my blog and we would leave messages back and forth to each other.  She is a runner, an army wife, a cupcake lover, and just a wonderfully strong, upbeat woman.  Ten months ago Lola went to the hospital because of some headaches spots of lights in her eyes...and her whole world was turned upside down.  She was diagnosed with hypoplastic myelodyspla stic sydrome and fought as hard as she could, but she is losing that fight now.  Please say a prayer for Laura, her husband, and her family during this devastating time.  Her family has been updating her Caring Bridge site....

Canvas 4 Life - Product Review and Discount Code

Image
When I was first contacted by Canvas 4 Life to do a review of one of their canvases, I pretty much jumped out of my seat with excitement.  An opportunity to have a gorgeous print of my two baby girls?  Of course!  The only difficult part of the ordering process was trying to figure out which picture to choose!  The website walks you through each step carefully, so at the end, the canvas print is *exactly* what you want.  Each canvas is made from 100% cotton, has corner wedges and real artist stretcher bars.  You have the ability to choose the depth of the frame as well as between three different coating choices.  And not only do they have great prices, they also include FREE shipping, choice of coating, frame depth, image enhancing, gallery wrapping, red eye removal, instant online image quality detection checker, and a money back guarantee if you are unhappy. The turn around time was really fast and I was notified as soon as it shipped! I was e...

2 on Tuesday

I'm linking up with Andrea again for 2 on Tuesday! Today's topic is What were your two favorite childhood toys? I was so excited for this topic.  It was so fun to think back to all the fun toys I played with and reminisce for a bit!  It was tough, but I did manage to narrow it down to two.  The first was this: Does anyone else remember these fashion plates???  I loved them!!  You could switch out the plates to make endless fashions!  If only I had these plates with my current clothes on them, it would be much easier top put together an outfit! My second favorite toy was this doll: This was my "My Child" doll.  I named her Ashley and she had blond hair and green eyes just like me!  I spent HOURS and HOURS playing with her!  She's still in a storage bin in my attic right now...I've got to head up there and bring her down soon so Little M can start to play with her! So what were your favorite toys?

It's Awards Time!

Image
I want to say a *huge* thank you to Mindy from All I Will Ever Need for bestowing on me not one, not two, but THREE blog awards!  Mindy was one of my very first followers and I love the friendship we have developed over the years.  The three awards she gave me are: Now I know a lot of people think these awards are a little cheesy, but I like them.  I think it's a fun way to get to know some new bloggers, and pass around some blogging love! {instead of all the cattiness going around recently} I have to list seven things about myself, so let me see if I can think of things I haven't talked about before. {one}I will only drink my coffee out of travel mugs, even though I'm rarely out of the house while drinking it {two}I don't like to talk politics much on here, but I am starting to get *very* excited about a new possible presidential candidate.  Let's just say his accent is the same as mine. {three}I have been getting back into running again and will be signing up for...

One-on-One

Image
When we were at the beach back in August, we decided to spend some special one on one time with Little M.  She has not been alone with both Skip and I since Baby C was born {with the exception of the few naps Baby C takes} so we thought this would be something she would really enjoy. We dropped Baby C off with my older sister and headed to the beach for the morning!  It was nice to just spend some time focusing on Little M for a bit {though we missed Baby C terribly!} We spent the majority of our time on the beach.  Little M loved running, digging, and playing in the sand.  We spent a lot of time showing her how to make sandcastles.  But her absolute favorite thing to do?  Play in the ocean!  Girlfriend was like a fish...all she wanted to do was jump and splash in the waves!  I spent hours and hours of my childhood playing in the ocean and I'm so excited that Little M shares my love of it! {even though all those Shark Week episodes I watched make ...
