Bits and Pieces

I'm exhausted, sick, and a little cranky, so a bullet post is all I can manage for today. - The call at the end of the Packers was absolutely the WORST call I have ever seen.  The only good that can come from it is if Goodell overturns the call and gives the Packers a win - Yes I know what simultaneous possession is....this wasn't it....the back of your hand on the ball doesn't count as possession - The Packers proved what a classy, honorable organization they are though  - People who don't really watch/understand football should just keep their mouths shut - I've been sick for almost three weeks now.  Finally got diagnosed with a sinus infection.  Really hope my meds kick in soon and the insane pressure in my head/face goes away - Emmy teared up for the first time when I dropped her off at school yesterday.  Saddest thing ever.  I wanted to just take her home.  She found a friend and was fine in two seconds though. - I think Charlie is teeth...

Project Pinterest - Your First Breath Took Ours Away

Image
I could not be more excited to be linking up with the fabulous AP again this week.  I just *love* checking out every one's Pinterest posts last week!! ; I recently came across this pin {the picture did not link back to anything on Pinterest} and it really spoke it me.  I thought it would be a beautiful addition to our home and a real tribute to the girls.  I didn't really think anything of it though until I was wandering around Lowes with Charlie, and stumbled upon these two clocks.  "Love makes a house a home" "We do not remember the days we remember the moments" I thought they were beautiful and loved the sayings written in them.  I set the clocks to the times the girls were born, 8:39pm for Emmy and 10:56am for Charlie, and left the batteries out so the time will stay on the clock. I then grabbed some 8x10 black frames from the Dollar Tree and got some newborn pictures printed of the girls. Baby Emmy Baby Charlie I was a little stumped about the wording...

Preschool Fashions - Girl Mom Style

Image
I am, and always have been, a total girlie girl.  So having two daughters that I can dress up in pink, bows, and tutus, has pretty much been my favorite thing ever.  But with Emmy starting preschool now, there's a lot more pressure to make sure she looks nice. I want her to look cute and stylish, but also comfortable and in clothes she can easily play in.  Though she is going to a private Catholic elementary school, there are no clothing requirements {until she starts kindergarten and wears a uniform} except that she has to wear sneakers on Fridays for gym class.  The freedom is nice, but also makes choosing clothes harder...throw in the crazy warm/cold weather we've been having and I'm constantly scrambling for something to put her in. I'm also not one to spend a lot of money on my kids clothes.  Sure I want them to last {both through Emmy and Charlie when she's bigger} but they grow out of them so fast it's just not worth it to me.  So most of the girls c...

Unhealthy Eating

At work recently, Skip got into a conversation with some of his buddies about healthy eating and fitness.   One of the guys mentioned something to him about how I am this health nut and our house must be filled with organic everything and only healthy items.   My lovely husband pretty much laughed in his face.   Yes I’m tiny, and yes I work out like a maniac, but when it comes to healthy eating I get a big fat FAIL. It’s not that I don’t want to eat healthy, I do.   But most vegetables are gross; I can’t stomach those green monster smoothies; and candy just tastes so much better!   It’s not that I only eat candy and sweets, I make sure to eat plenty of salads, grilled chicken, and humus too.   But let’s just say that a few years ago we picked up some wholesale candy for Halloween and I managed to eat the whole 5lb bag, by myself, in like two weeks.   Whoops! This is my theory.   Life is short.   Bad stuff happens to people all the time. ...

Fall Decorating

Image
I've never really been that into decorating my house for holidays.  Christmas, absolutely, but everything else has normally fallen by the wayside.  When Skip and I were first married and living in our tiny condo, I didn't really have the space for housing decorations, nor the drive to put things out just for us.  When we moved into our current house four years ago, I originally had grand plans for decorating for all holidays, but I soon found myself miserably sick and pregnant, or caring for an infant pretty much the whole time we've lived here. But as my baby shop is closed, the girls are a little older now and starting to appreciate the holidays, I figured it was time to start decorating!  I really didn't have much to start with, and with expensive decorations not really in the budget, I really had to squeeze my creative juices. First I started off with some fall-like place mats I scored at the supermarket for 93 cents a piece.  They're vinyl place mats, which...

Park Perspective

Image
I recently took the girls to the park by myself, which is a feat in and of itself now that Charlie can walk everywhere.  Two girls, running off in different directions and just me to run after them, omg.  No wonder I don't need to work out on those days.   Anywho, I chose a park about 10 minutes from our house because it's normally pretty empty and is set really far back from the road, so I wasn't worried about either of them running into traffic.  What's funny is that I used to take these two kids I babysat for in high school there.  It was so funny to be there with my own two kids now.  A few things have changed, but most of the park looks the same as it did over 10 years ago. But me?  I'm so different to how I was back then.  The things I think about and worry about as I watch Emmy and Charlie run around are SO different than what I was concerned with at sixteen.  I have learned so much and been through so many things in that time.  I...
