Happy! Happy!

I just wanted to take a moment to wish my man a very happy 32nd birthday!  I love spoiling people on their birthday, and hopefully I am able to accomplish that day with you Skip!  We had some friends over last night to watch football, and the girls and I will be making sure Skip feels loved and relaxed today!  Happy birthday Skipper Man...you don't look a day over 21 to me:)

Ringing in the New Year

Image
Skip and I have had a New Year's Eve party for the past few years, and it ends up being the same people every year.  It's been such a great tradition and we were excited to carry it on again this year!  We made it a pot-luck meal which took a lot of stress off me.  Plus I love trying everything that people bring! It was a laid-back, relaxed evening filled with lots of talking and laughs. My best friends L and M....2014 will be a fabulous year for them as L is pregnant with a sweet baby girl!!! I have no words Me and B We had put the girls to bed at their normal time {mean mommy} but did wake Emmy up around 11:40.  She was not  happy with me at first, but perked up right at midnight! Lots of hugs, some more laughs, and a 2:00 am bedtime for us was the best way to ring in 2014!!

Decemeber Miles and Yearly Close-out

Image
I never posted my miles for the third week of December....probably because there were none.  Whoops.  This month was definitely the worst for me workout wise.  I was tired, extremely busy, and just plain didn't want to most of the time.  I did make a bit more of an effort the past week though.  Thursday December 26 - 3.4 mile run Friday - 3.4 mile run Saturday - none Sunday - 4 mile elliptical / kickboxing DVD Monday - none Tuesday - none Weekly Total - 10.8 December total - 20.6 2013 total {April to the present} - 375 miles Definitely my worst month since I started tracking miles back in April.  But after all the great months I had, it's really not a big deal to have an off one. It was cool looking back at exactly how many miles I did since April.  I am so glad that I started counting my miles.  It has really pushed me and brought my workouts to a different level! Here's to getting back on track in January and making 2014...

Big Plans

2014! It's here!  It's finally here!  I've been waiting for this new year, this fresh start, for about 11 1/2 months now {no joke}.  So now that it's here, I welcome it with open arms. I have big plans for you 2014, big plans.  I'm expecting a lot out of you, but I am also willing to give a lot in return.  This year I hope to accomplish the following: {one} Let's get the fitness one out of the way first, since it's on just about every one's list.  I want to keep tracking my miles each month and posting them for accountability.  I want to push myself to increase my mileage every month.  Once it's warm, I want to really push my running to the next level, faster and farther! {two} I want to eat much healthier and drink a lot more water.  I say this every year.  Let's see if it can actually stick for once. {three} Worry less.  I asked Skip for help on what I should work on, and this was his only suggestion.  I am a worrier, I won't...

Hostess Gift Review and GIVEAWAY

Image
One of the things I love most about living in this area, is that we are constantly surrounded by friends and family.  With that comes constant parties and get-togethers.  Football parties, birthdays, holiday gathers. I myself have hosted many events {including a NYE party tonight} and know just how much work goes into one.  There is planning, shopping, cleaning, preparing, etc.  And attempting to do that with little ones underfoot is even more impossible! That is why I am so excited to partner with Merci chocolates in honoring and thanking everyone that hosts a party this holiday season.  It is so important to always thank the person hosting with a small token of their appreciation for all their hard work.  This season I am so thankful for my family.  My sister and her husband graciously opened their home up to us for Christmas Eve, and my dad prepared the most delicious meal! Merci gifted me with a beautiful thank you.  Chocolates, coffee cups, a...

A look back at 2013

Image
Before I kick 2013 to the curb {and happily} I want to end the year with a little recap of the past 12 months. January The beginning of the year was extremely tough on our family.  My MIL, who had been battling her cancer since August, was starting to have a tougher time with it.  Skip was gone a lot to help out and spend time with her whenever he could. As we were all  struggling, it was no surprise Emmy started missing us at school a lot.  Thankfully she and I came up with a solution that helped her get through. I filled out one of those awesome, throwback to high school surveys to let you know a little more about me! You could plainly see my frustration over things going on as I talked about how things could be worse . February At the beginning of February, my MIL was brought home under hospice care.  We prepared for the inevitable and Skip spent as much time out there with her as possible. Even though the Giants weren't in it, I threw a Superbowl party w...

Resolution Recap

Last year around this time, I wrote my list of "hopeful accomplishments".  The term sounded a little nicer and far more manageable that resolutions.  I was hoping it would help me follow them a little more closely. So what do you think?  Was I able to fulfill my thirteen "hopeful accomplishments"?  Let's take a look and find out! {one}  Regularly set specific fitness goals.   Yes!  Manda's 30 mile in 30 days link up is really what helped me stay on track with this.  Adding to my mileage each month really helped me stay on track, and push myself harder than I would have otherwise.  I definitely want to continue this next year! {two}  Run more . Yes!  This is probably the accomplishment I am most proud of.  On April 1 I decided enough was enough, and I was going to start running for real.  Nine months later I have logged 266.73 miles of just running.  I can't believe how fast I'm getting or how far I'm able to run!...
