Here's a picture of our other dog...Shiba Inu! (Yes, her name is the same as her breed...we were not feeling original!) Her birthday is the day before Little M's and she's 4 1/2. Here she is laying in bed, taking over my spot!
Last year a made a little video of Emmy answering some questions before her very first day of school. So of course I had to do the same this year! I cannot believe what a difference a year has made!
We had such a busy weekend that I'm going to have to split it until two posts as to not get too long winded! Saturday we woke up bright and early to a sunny, cool, crisp November morning. We got the whole family ready and headed up to my Alumni Weekend at the University in Connecticut I attended. I graduated back in 2005, but haven't been back to the campus since...so I was *very* excited about this weekend! Three of the girls I was really close with were going, so I was really looking forward to seeing them and checking out who else was there. Once we got up there, parked, registered, and joined up with the girls we were ready to party! A big part of Alumni Weekend is to watch the Homecoming football game...however we only made it up to the actual field once...to buy food! haha . For the past few months, I've alluded to the fact that my family was going through something big, something heavy....but that it wasn't my story to share. For the past six months, my MIL had been battling lung cancer. She fought it with everything she had, but three weeks ago, the doctors said that nothing more could be done. So we brought her home. We visited a lot with her over the past few weeks, and everything we wanted and needed to say, was. We brought the girls around as long as she was feeling well, and I hope Emmy will always carry those nice memories. We were given notice on Friday that the end was probably near, and so the whole family was able to go be with her. On Saturday afternoon, surrounded by the family that loved her, my MIL peacefully passed away. Through our tears and grief, we were happy that she was no longer in pain.
