How to pass the time without power

When we lost power on Monday, I knew it would be for the long hall.  During huge storms even less than this, we lose power for days.  Thankfully we lost power right before the girls went to bed Monday night, so they got to sleep through a lot of it.  But no light, heat, TV, Internet gets a little old with the under four crowd sometimes.  And there were too many downed trees and wires outside, so we couldn't even take them out.  Other than an outing to my besties house on Wednesday to shower and warm up, this is how we spent our time!

Watching them cut up a giant fallen tree

Taking pictures

Taking more pictures

Warm and stylish!!! {it was COLD in the house by the last day}

Playing with buttons {don't worry it wasn't on}

Finding creative ways to keep the baby away from the space heater

Wearing the ugliest/warmest clothes you can find

Unless you're my husband who wears only a t-shirt when it's 50 something degrees in the house

Wrestling

Eating dinner by the light of the I Touch

Or just eating dinner in the dark

Playing fake wedding with Daddy and a blow up skeleton

Letting the kids make a huge mess and not care at all

Playing hide and seek in the dark

Snuggles

Yay for battery operate video games!

 And after three days of no lights or heat, you get so stir crazy and desperate that you don't even mind there had to be a fire in order for your power to get back.

There had been a downed wire in front of our house.  When the power came on, that wire went live and lit a bunch of leaves on fire.  Which then spread to more leaves.
That's my house on the right, closest to the fire...oh you know, and Skip's car

After calling 911...snatching the girls out of their beds...taking them to a neighbors house...cops, firemen, gas company, 45 minutes later and a whole lot of asphalt melting, the fire was out, the girls safely in their beds again, and we had power:)
Melted asphalt

I am so grateful that it came on when it did.  So many people {including half my street still} don't have power.  Please pray for them as it was 35* degrees last night and will be same tonight.

*I am working on a post for Monday about all the devastation this storm as caused.  I am also trying to find the best way for people to raise money and donate.  In the meantime, just text "REDCROSS" to 90999 and donate $10.  Every little bit helps!!*
