A Horse Party

Friday night was Emmy's family birthday party.  We wanted to keep it super simple and low-key this year, and I'm happy to say we achieved that.  It was nice not to stress over things too much, and just sit back and enjoy the family and my little girl.

Most of decorations were already up from the day before, which helped.  Skip and I just cleaned a bit Friday morning and added a few more finishing touches everywhere.


Everyone got there around 4:30.  We opened gifts first as I think the birthday girl was going to bust with excitement. 


The pizza and garlic knots we ordered arrived right about the time we finished the gifts, which worked out perfectly.  That along with a few chips and dip were all we served for dinner {keeping it simple}. 

Playing and little sister antics came next, obviously.


Then it was time to bring out the cake and cupcakes!  I did splurge on a horse cake pan, and I'm so happy with the way it turned out.  I thought for sure I would mess it up!


I'm not sure who enjoyed the experience more though, Emmy or Charlie {and thanks to my dad for these pics...we forgot to take any during the cake part of the evening.
 


The evening wrapped up around 7:00 when Charlie headed up to bed.  Overall it was a wonderful evening filled with lots of pictures and memories.  And this girl right here?  She had a blast.  And that's all that matters.

    Happy Birthday Emmy! That party looks so awesome. Such a nice change from these crazy $1000 blowouts that parents have been shelling out for. You two look like twins in that bottom picture!

    Mama- this is the cutest party!!! I think I am going to take a page from your book here and keep Julianna's 4th birthday simple too! And JUST family like we did for Kelsey in August! It's hard sometimes, but it just gets out of hand too much! xoxo

Happy Thursday everyone!  I'll be honest, I almost didn't link up today.  Mainly because there's really not much to report.  Here's what I did:   Thursday September 19 - none Friday - nothing Saturday - 2.5 mile walk Sunday - nada Monday - zip Tuesday - nothin' Wednesday - no thing Weekly Total - 2.5 August total - 31.4 Yeaaaaaah...so that whole 50, maybe 60 miles I was hoping for this month is not going to happen.  In my defense, I seem to have come down with the plague and have been sick all week.  Saturday was the only day I felt kind of normal.  I always have trouble pushing myself when I have a cold to workout, and normally end up just sitting on the couch under a blanket instead.  I really do miss working out though and will hopefully be able to get a little something done to finish out the month. The Movers Concert!

Sooo, I totally didn't mean to take this mini blogging break.  But life has just been crazy busy and on the go the past few days that there was no time!  It was nice though to just step away from pretty much all social media and just LIVE.  This weekend was good for my soul and I will be doing a few catch-up posts to fill you all in! The fun began on Thursday afternoon.  Way back in October, Skip and I heard that that Imagination Movers were doing a concert nearby.  You know, these guys from the Disney Channel... They once aired a concert of theirs on the Disney Channel and Little M is OBSESSED.  We have it saved on the DVR, and she wants to watch it at least 3 times a week.  So when we heard about the tickets in October, we were really tempted.  But we didn't know if she would still be interested in them, and with our trip to Disney, we were saving all the money we could. What to wear in September

I don't know what the weather is like where you live, but here in Jersey the weather gets a little strange here once the calender switches to September.  It's still really warm during the day {70's and 80's} but it drops down to the 60's, 50's and sometimes even 40's at night.  And since it's post labor day, it's not exactly appropriate to be rocking all my summer favorites.  So this often poses a real challenge when it comes to clothes. The past few years, since I'm a SAHM, I have just lived in yoga pants, a tank top, and a zippie {a zip-up hooded sweatshirt} most of the time.  But since I have to take Emmy to school now, I don't want to be that frumpy mom standing in the pick-up and drop-off area.  Here are some of the outfits I've been throwing together.  I've been working hard on finding things that I can easily add or take away clothes as the temperature changes, instead of changing my outfit 109834598 times a day. {Sorry for the...
