Hopeful Accomplishments
I really love a fresh start, a new beginning. And as I said yesterday, I've been looking forward to the end of 2012 since July. So waking up this morning and knowing that crappy year is behind us, really put a smile on my face.
I also decided this morning that while I really like making resolutions, I don't really like that word. It just sounds so final and severe.
So instead I present to you my 'Hopeful Accomplishments' {doesn't that sound so much nicer and way easier to stick with?} for 2013.
{one} Regularly set specific fitness goals. I am at my ideal weight, but there definitely are a lot of signs that I've birthed two children. Time to tone and tighten!
{two} Run more. I loathe running and everything about it, except for that amazing runner's high afterwards. I really want to be able to run a few races in the future, so I need to just suck it up and do it.
{three} Stay on top of the laundry. This is by far my least favorite chore and it is constantly piling up around me.
{four} Eat better and drink more water. I think this has been on my list for about 10 years. But this year I mean it. My ulcer was a big wake-up call and while I've been getting much better recently, there is still lots of room for improvement.
{five} Stop procrastinating. Some things I get done right away, and some take me forever to motivate myself to do.
{six} Save more money at the supermarket. I've gotten really good about getting good deals, using coupons, etc most of the time. I can't tell you the last time I bought clothes or gifts that weren't discounted in some way. But I have gotten really bad about focusing on coupons and sales for the supermarket.
{seven} Eat at home more. While we rarely go out to restaurants these days, we've gotten way too comfortable with take-out, or picking up a sandwich here and there. Our waistlines and wallets appreciate home-cooked food more!
{eight} Let go. I often get wrapped up in what other people are doing or things going on in the world. I need to remember to just ignore and not care about the things that don't affect my life.
{nine} Go away with Skip. We have a few ideas in mind and are hoping some pieces can fall into place for he and I to get away a little bit together this year!
{ten} Be more intentionally with my blogging and the way I interact with the blogging community. There are things I want for my blog this year and I need to set some time every day to work on them, and really focus my time on specific goals I have in mind.
{eleven} Spend quality time alone with each of the girls. They are both getting so big now, and I want to make sure they get alone time to do fun things with me!
{twelve} Make more of an effort with my appearance. I keep using the excuse that if I'm comfortable, I can get more done around the house. But no more. Sure there will still be days I lay around in my sweats {ahem like right now} but I want to put more of an effort into my appearance....cute clothes, nails and hair done, make-up on.
{thirteen} Overhaul my closet. Every season I go through my clothes and donate items I no longer wear. But I realized recently that I'm still hanging on to a lot more items than I should. I'd much rather have less clothes that I wear all the time, than more clothes I don't. I also want to be very mindful when I'm clothes shopping and only buy things I truly love.
Seems appropriate to have 13 accomplishments I hope to achieve for 2013. What are you hoping to accomplish this year?
