How-To Make a Blog Media Kit
I had a company ask me to send over my blog media kit one day. I turned to Skip and was like, ummm, what? I had no idea what they were talking about.
Wanting to seem like the savvy blogger I amnot, I sent off a quick, "oh sure, I just have to update it a little" and immediately turned to our good friend Google.
After doing tons of research, and even more editing, and re-editing, I finally had a media kit I could proudly send off to promote my blog.
Now I'm definitely no expert, here's a few things I learned when making my kit.
- First things first, a media kit is usually a one page document that highlights your blog.
- It usually includes:
Blog name
Blog header
A picture of yourself - people like to know who they're dealing with!
A short description of your blog, and what you blog about
Companies you have worked with in the past
Updated blog statistics {page views, social media followers, unique monthly visitors}
What services you offer {sponsored posts, giveaways, reviews, etc}
Links to all your social media accounts {look online for those cute little buttons, then apply your links to them
- I made my kit in Microsoft Word, but then saved it as a PDF file. That is the format most companies are going to ask for.
- The hardest part for me was making all the little boxes and circles that everything goes into, but just take a few minutes familiarizing yourself with Word and you'll find how easy it is to insert shapes.
- I make sure to update my kit once a month, so it is always ready to send off to a company.
Here's a copy of mine so you have a visual {I kept all my blog statistics blank for privacy sake...also, the watermark is just on this one so people don't go stealing my stuff..it's not on my official one}
So head over to Word and make yourself a media kit! Please feel free if you need any help or have any questions!
