Health and Fitness for my Shiba
Good morning everyone! I hope this holiday-for-some start to the week is giving everyone a little more chance to relax.
Today I want to introduce you to someone very important. Someone you may have seen before, or depending on how long you've been around here, you may not have.
This is Shiba. No, she's not a fox. She's our OB {original baby} and she's a Shiba Inu. Real original on the name, I know.

We got Shiba when she was only 4 months old, back in the spring of 2005. Skip had just come home from Iraq. He had wanted a dog for years, and with our wedding only a few months away, we figured it was the perfect time. Let me tell you, we searched for weeks and played with tons of dogs before we stumbled upon Shiba. She was a skinny little thing, all curled up in the back of her cage at the pet store. She was shaking a bit, as though she was afraid of the world.
One look at her, and I was hooked. I was not a huge dog person at the time, so if we were going to get one I wanted it to be more of the cuddly type than a run around like crazy type. Strangely, Shiba really isn't either as she's more "leave me alone and let me hide in the closet" type. Seriously. Shiba just wants to curl up in her bed and lay in our closet all day long.
Not exactly healthy. Which is why I am so excited about the Purina® Pro Plan® Fitness Group. This group fully supports and aides me with my two main concerns for Shiba...nutrition and exercise. The food is designed with real meat, poultry, and fish for optimum nutrient absorption. You can chose from focus, sport, savor, or select...whichever is best for your little pup!
In order to keep Shiba at her best, she needs to not only be eating well, but exercising too. There is an awesome challenge going on right now on the Purina® Pro Plan® Fitness Group. It is a 30 day leash challenge. It runs from 9/30-11/13. When you sign up you will be entered to win prizes! And if you walk your pup every day for 30 days, you could have a chance at winning year's supply of Purina® Pro Plan® Dog Food! So head on over and sign up now!!
Purina® ProPlan® has partnered with MapMyFitness and created the Purina® ProPlan® Fitness Group Page to get pet owner’s more active with their dogs. Check out the Fitness Group page here and start getting active with your dog today!
