Best Halloween Eveer

Yesterday was a good day around here...a really good day.  In fact, I think it's safe to say that it was the best Halloween we've had since we had kids.  Here's a little rundown of the past few years:
2009 - Emmy's first Halloween.  She was a bear and the cutest thing ever.  But Skip had to work and miss the whole thing

2010 - Emmy was an adorable lady bug.  Skip was home and we took her trick or treating for the first time.  However, I was new pregnant with Charlie and puking everywhere.

2011 - Charlie's first Halloween.  We got hit by Frankenstorm...Snowpacalypse...whatever you want to call it.  Lots of snow in October = down power lines and branches and no power for days.  We did trick or treat a little though.

2012 - The year Halloween was cancelled.  We were knee deep in hurricane Sandy when October 31st rolled around.  We did dress them up one day, later on, and trick or treat at my parents house.  That was the extent of it.

But this year?  This year was good.  Emmy got to wear her costume to school, and was so excited to see all her friends dressed up.  We all went to pick her up, and then headed over to my Grandma's old house to visit with my aunt.  That was a little hard as my Grandma always loved Halloween and this was our first without her.

She would have been happy that we came over though.  To carry on her traditions we then headed home for some apple bobbing and trying to bite the donut on a string.  Emmy was SO EXCITED about it all.

Then we headed out for some good ol' trick-or-treating!  This was both girls favorite part of the day.  Even Charlie got right into it..walking and holding her own bucket the whole time.

We took a break when it started raining a little.  Emmy was just as happy to give out candy as she was to take it!  We had a quick dinner and then stopped by my sister's house for a bit.  We got back and topped off the evening by watching The Great Pumpkin.

With all we've been through this past year, this day was very much needed.  I hope you all had a wonderful Halloween as well!
