Emmy's First Trip to NYC

I've mentioned on here before, that we live pretty close to New York City.  We really don't go in all that much though, as there is always a ridiculous amount of traffic and everything is just so expensive.  Seriously, it's like $14 just to cross the bridge.

Anyways, it's been a while since we went in, and for months now Emmy has been asking to go into "my New York City" as she called it.  You can see the skyline from certain areas around where we live, and she's always been mesmerized by all the tall buildings.  They also talk about the Museum of Natural History in one of her favorite Mercer Meyer books.  So we had my mom come up last Friday to watch Charlie for the day {she is so not city ready} and we headed in!

We've done driving, trains, and buses to get into the city, depending on where we were heading, and for this it was easier to drive.  So we did {and by we I mean Skip...I drove in NYC once and refuse to every do it again}.

We were worried about traffic, but thankfully hit none!  Which is pretty much a miracle in itself.  We parked in the garage by the museum, and relaxed for a few minutes while we waited for it to open.

I was glad we got there so early, as we had about a good 20 minute start in the museum before the really big crowds started showing up.  Skip hadn't been here before either, so I was excited to see both of their reactions.  Emmy was loving it at first, but did start to get a little overwhelmed by all the people and everything to see.  It is also really dark in areas, and that was freaking her out a little.  We wandered around for about an hour and a half though and got to see most of the things in there!

We then hit up the gift shop {Emmy's favorite part of it all} and headed downstairs to the food court in the basement for some lunch.

After lunch we headed over to Central Park.  We stopped first at a playground and let Emmy run off some energy.

They we walked further into the park and did a little climbing and exploring.

Emmy was a little worn out at this point and said she just wanted to go home.  It had been a big day for her and she really had done so well with it all!

Thankfully we hit no traffic on the way home either {amazing!} and was able to spend the rest of the day with my mom and Charlie.

It was a great first visit into NYC for Emmy, and I anticipate lots more with these girls in the future!
