End of Summer Fun

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week were our last days of summer vacation and we wanted to enjoy them as much as possible.  {Plus Skip was working all holiday weekend, so we didn't really do anything then}

Monday we went to the playground and spent lots of time in the sprinkler outside.


On Tuesday I took Emmy to get a fresh haircut.  I've been cutting here hair the last few years, but as she's in kindergarten now, I figured it was time to take her to my stylist.  Emmy loved the whole experience, though she was a little disappointed I wouldn't let her get her hair colored.






After that we took the girls to ride the ponies and then spent the rest of the day outside again.



Wednesday morning we ran to Target to pick up a few last minute things..my kids are obsessed with the big red ball and insisted I snap a picture!

Then we treated them to some time at the playground and skipping stones on the lake.



Of course we needed one more day outside in the sprinkler before making some home-made pizza for dinner.


Such a great way to end the summer!

Let's play a little game called "What's wrong with this picture?" I'm Coming Out too...Will You?

I read this article, blog, whatever you want to call it the other day and when I was finished I practically stood up and shouted, "Finally!"  To summarize, JJ Watt gives her opinion on being pro-vaccine for her children.  She backs it up with facts on how immunizations are really only effective with herd immunity, and that the theory that shots, specifically the MMR, cause autism has been disproven time and time again.  JJ Watt uses this article to "come out" as pro-vaccine, and encourages the rest of us to do the same.  The anti-vaccinators are the ones you hear all the time.  Now it's our turn to take a stand.  So that is what I am doing today.  I vaccinate my kids, and I'm proud of it . I try to stay out of the mommy wars as much as possible.  It doesn't affect my life if you co-sleep, formula feed, or clothe diaper.  Your choices on how you raise your child, doesn't affect my child in any way.  Except when it comes to vaccines....

Popping my Puking Cherry

I've been hiding a secret from all of you.  One I was too afraid to mention for fear of massive repercussions.  Until this past Saturday, I had gone 3 1/2 years of motherhood without a single puking incident. Sure we had our fair share of projectile breast milk and formula from each of the girls when they were babies, but that was it.  And that's hardly a big deal in my book.  I knew one day the stomach flu or something similar would eventually end up in our lives, but I rode out the puke-free wave as long as I could.{I also think I got to live without puke for so long since I had more than my fair share during my pregnancies} Enter Saturday.  The day of my sister's wedding rehearsal and dinner.  Skip, the girls, and I are all dressed up and ON TIME.  Something I used to pride myself on and something that rarely happens with two kids.  I had a huge diaper bag filled with everything I thought we'd need.  We hit the road and begin our hour...
