Benefits for Veterans
Thank you to Direct Energy for sponsoring today’s post and inspiring me to help out the military veterans in my community.
If you've been around this blog for any length of time, you know I'm a
huge supporter of our military. My husband is a Marine Corps veteran, and my cousin and several friends went to West Point before serving in the Army. I've known guys in the Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard as well. I swear I know more people in the military than the average person.
Because I am so close to them all, I know all their stories. We live, and have lived for the past fourteen years, in a time of war. Our men and women in uniform have deployed over and over again , serving their country and keeping us safe. They live in trailers, tents, and sometimes just outside. Sand covers every square inch of their gear. They're lucky if they get a warm shower or a hot meal. They have had to do and see unspeakable things...things that would make it hard for the rest of us to sleep at night. And they do it all for us. They volunteer to put their lives on the line so that we may be free.
So now it's our turn to thank them. After all, it's the least we can do. We need to help veterans in any way they can once they are home. And this can be as simple as saying "Thank you" to any veteran you see. Buy poppies from them during May. Have your children write cards and send them to a veteran you know {or leave a comment to me and I can pass them along to the many veterans I know!} You can look up your local VA hospital and sign up as a volunteer. I also make sure to frequent restaurants and businesses that give military discounts and incentives.
I am so happy to share with you that Direct Energy is doing their part to help veterans. "At Direct Energy, we are committed to giving back to those who have given so much to our country. That’s why we have recently launched the military portal, a dedicated space where military personnel can find discounted energy rates for their home energy needs. Plus, once you’re a Direct Energy Customer, you’ll have access to our on time bill payments rewards program, Refer-a-Friend Program, easy, on the go Online Account Manager and more.
To be eligible for the discounted military rates, you must enter your valid ID into our portal. Once it verifies, you will then be directed to a dedicated military plans page. You will then see plans available in your area."
Super easy to use! I am proud to share this with you, as I think more companies should be taking the time to help our military and veterans.
So if go check out Direct Energy today, or pass it on to a veteran you know!!
