How to Make Your Home Look More Expensive Than It Is

Wondering how you can make your home more chic without spending your savings? It’s easier than you think. Follow these tips for creating a stylish interior that your friends won’t even know is budget-friendly.

1. De-clutter, because less really is more. Aim for a minimalist look and fill space without crowding it. Use objects of varying heights, colors and shapes to create personality, but don’t add too many knick knacks to any one surface or shelf. Get rid of unwanted decor items by holding a garage sale or selling them online.

2. Add a focal point to each room. The easiest way to do this, especially if you’re working with limited space, is by putting up wall art and then planning the rest of the room around it. If you’re artistic, get a big blank canvas and make your own art. Otherwise, purchase a great looking, inexpensive piece online or at a flea market.

3. If you have a lot of sunlight in one room, let the rays speak for themselves by keeping the decor neutral. You can add one bold or brightly colored piece, but everything else should be subdued. Just make sure that you don't have furniture that will get washed out with all that sun exposure. For holiday inspiration and shopping tips, check out Balsam Hill reviews.

4. Re-do just one wall. Paint a wall in your kitchen with chalkboard paint or make one of your living room walls a gallery. Considering adding texture to a wall, too, like by hanging grass cloth over it. Or, simply paint one wall in a bright color, like red or yellow. When you only tackle one wall, you can make a room like a lot different without spending too much on the revamp.

5. Frame amazing window views with pretty window treatments. You’ll draw the eye toward the window and the view. Nothing says “rich” like a to-die-for view of a gorgeous landscape or the bustling city.

6. Use blank space for something functional. A nook under the staircase can become storage or a child’s play area. The small corner of your room can be the perfect place for a writing desk topped with stationery and fresh flowers.

You don’t have to empty your wallet just to spruce up your home.
