Home Projects

With both girls in school full-time, I have a lot more free time during the day {Skip too when he’s on nights or off!} Most of it is spent working for me, but it’s also given me the opportunity to look around the house and notice little changes here and there I want to make.

The first was repainting our bedroom.  I had painted it grey with a darker accent wall a few years ago. Which I loved until we moved the furniture around the accent wall was no longer behind our bed.  In comes an $18 clearance gallon of paint from Lowes. It’ a soft, grayish blue, and I am absolutely in love!

So much so that I decided to repaint our bathroom downstairs.  It had been a burnt orange before, which again was fine, but I had the paint and felt like a little upgrade.

I’m completely in love with these two rooms now!

On the bigger project end, I managed to convince Skip that we needed to rip up all the carpets upstairs in our house RIGHT THEN {I have no patience when it comes to home projects} The carpets are terrible quality and looked horrible after 7.5 years of wear.  Thankfully, Skip is happy to indulge my crazy, and we got to work!

Three days later we had ripped up all the carpets in the three bedrooms, hallway, and staircase.  The hardwood floors underneath are covered in paint and show a few different finishes, but other than that, they’re in great shape!

So next week we’ll be starting the three week process of getting them refinished {Skip wouldn’t let me attempt that by myself} It will require Skip and I sleeping on the couch for almost a month, and lots of furniture moving, but I know it will be so worth it when they’re done!  I promise updates as we go, as this is definitely the biggest home project we’ve ever undertaken.

  1. Isn't it amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do?! It looks so good!

  2. You've been busy! Everything looks great! We ripped up our carpeting when we bought our house and discovered beautiful hardwood floors underneath. We had them refinished, but they need to be redone a decade later! A Great Dane and 4 kids beat them up! Can't wait to see the end result!

  3. Those rooms look awesome! Good luck with the refinishing. Under our carpet was just concrete so we had to just recarpet when we moved in.
