May Miles

Image
I promised to step it up a bit in May..let's see how I did! Thursday May 8 - none Friday - 2.1 elliptical Saturday - 3.2 mile run Sunday - 2.7 mile run Monday - Supreme 90 total body Tuesday -  4.1 mile run Wednesday - 3.4 mile run Weekly Total - 15.5 miles May Total Miles - 26.4 May workout total - 12 I really tried to focus on listening to my body, and yet pushing it a little bit at the same time.  My lower back and knee have been hurting, so I've been taking things a little slower, and not quite as far as I'd like sometimes.  However, I'm also not using a little soreness as an excuse to just lay around and do nothing.  Yes, we want to make sure we don't really injure ourselves badly.  At the same time, you'll never make progress if you take a break every time something feels uncomfortable.

Daddy's Girls

Image
Since the girls were actually behaving for a few pictures with me on Mother's Day, we decided to quick snap a few with Skip as well. Emmy and Charlie are definitely daddy's girls at heart. They're favorite time of day is when he gets home and they get to run and greet him at the door with hugs. They've both been struggling a lot recently when Skip is at work, and not understanding why he can't be home every night like a lot of other daddies. This cop kid life can be hard, but it just makes us all appreciate every moment we are lucky enough to spend with him!

A Day for Mothers

Image
Good morning!  I hope all you moms had a wonderful, relaxing day yesterday.  I know some people think it's silly to celebrate a Hallmark-type holiday, but I am all about  moms getting a whole day of recognition {dads too!} I can honestly say that yesterday was the most wonderful Mother's Day I've ever had.  I was able to relax, spend time with my family, and just felt very loved and appreciated. First off, Skip didn't have to go into work, which is pretty much the best gift of all.  He let me sleep in until 10 while he and the girls got a few last minute things done.  When I finally came downstairs, I was greeted with a Dunkin Donuts coffee, donuts, and a big sign that said "We Love Mommy".  I was absolutely spoiled by gifts of clothes, jewelry, and a special notebook Skip made me in lieu of cards from the girls.  I was also given a corsage to wear when we went out later!! After breakfast, we Face Timed with my mom and figured out what our plans w...

Flashback Friday

As the NFL draft is currently taking place the next few days, I figured it was the appropriate time to share some old photos of Emmy from the first time we took her to Giant's stadium.  For years our friends and I had attended the big draft day party the Giants held every year.  And when Emmy was 5 months old, I was beyond excited to have her join in the tradition! Yeah that's Howard Cross reaching for my baby! Sadly this was the last Draft Day party held this way.  They stopped them for a while, and now they're only open to season ticket holders.  But I'm glad that we got to bring Emmy when we did at least!  I promised Emmy we could go down and watch training camp this summer, and she's super excited.  I'm glad she's starting to love football as much as her mom.  Good thing I got her started off so young!

Goal Achieved

I promised to step it up a bit in May..let's see how I did! Thursday May 1 - Ripped in 30 Friday - Ripped in 30 Saturday - 3.2 mile run Sunday - None Monday - 5.1 mile run Tuesday -  Kickboxing levels 2 and 3 Wednesday - 2.6 mile run Weekly Total - 10.9 miles May Total Miles - 10.9 May workout total - 6 Can we take a closer look at Monday for a minute...5.1 miles!!!!!!!  That is the longest I have ever run before...ever!  It is a goal I have had for a year now, and without any extra training or anything, just decided to go for it a mile into my run on Monday.  It was a little painful {maybe since I had only gotten 5 hours of sleep the night before and had nothing but coffee for breakfast before I ran} but I did it!!  I had seen there was a 10k in my area on Memorial Day, and after I finished the 5, figured I could train in the next few weeks.  Unfortunately I hurt my knee pretty bad during that run, so I think I'm goi...

Random Musings

Happy Wednesday everyone!  Though it feels more like Monday around here as Skip just started back on the day shift after being off for two days.  Thankfully he'll be off on Sunday though!!  And that's all that matters;) Skip keeps asking me what I want to do on Mother's Day, but I really have no clue!  I'm thinking I just want to relax with my little family...and maybe eat some cupcakes. After a few mishaps trying to order it from Target online, the ever coveted Elsa dress is in our house!  I'm not one to go crazy trying to get the it toy  for the girls, but with this I made an exception.  Emmy only asked for it once, a few weeks ago, and never nagged us about it after.  Plus, with our upcoming trip to Disney {with Fast Passes for meeting Elsa and Ana!} and a princess dinner at the local children's museum soon, I knew it would make her day.  It was definitely worth all the hassle when I saw her face light up:) We have officially been 'patchin...

Capturing a Moment

Image
A few weeks ago I broke out my "big girl camera" to snap some pics of the girls.  It had been a loooong time since I dusted it off, so I was happy to have it out again.  These sweet girls of mine are growing so very fast  and I love being able to capture them at this age!
