To say my family has gone through some tough times in the past year and a half is an understatement. That coupled with the fact that New Jersey has missed out on the past two Halloweens {Snowpacalypse 2011 / Hurricane Sandy 2012} makes me want to make this Halloween the best!holiday!ever! for my sweet girls. And I don't know about you, but it doesn't feel like a holiday to me unless it starts in the kitchen.
Now I know what you're thinking...what is there to cook for Halloween? Don't you just buy a bag of candy and call it a day?
Well, you can, but this year I wanted to do a little something more special. I wanted to not only have a sweet treat for the girls, but also be able to spend a special moment with them, creating something together. These little moments in the kitchen are some of my favorite and most treasured.
So this weekend Emmy and I decided to get a little creative and make some Halloween treats. This can be a challenge, what with her peanut allergy and all. Thankfully
JELL-O made this a none issue! I have been a
huge fan of
JELL-O since I was a little girl, and just
love being able to pass that love onto my girls.
As good as plain ol'
JELL-O in a bowl is, my absolute favorite is
JELL-O JIGGLERS
. There's something about being able to hold it in your hand that makes it even more delicious.
Emmy and I settled on the
Halloween Cat Eyes JIGGLERS and got to work.
Ingredients3/4 cup boiling tonic water
1/2 cup boiling water
2 pkg JELL-O Lemon Flavor Gelatin
4 seedless red grapes each cut into 6 slices.
Directions |
Gather all your ingredients together |
|
Spray a muffin tin and set aside |
|
Boil the water and tonic water together |
|
Pour mixture over JELL-O Lemon Gelatin |
|
Mix well |
|
Place 1 tbsp. of mixture into each cup |
|
Place one grape slice in each cup. Refrigerate for three minutes |
|
Add at least 1 tbsp. on top of each cup. Refrigerate for three hours |
|
Enjoy!! |

how freaking cute are these!!! Great idea mama!! And even better that most kids probably don't have an allergy to what is in Jell-O so it works for almost everyone! :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those! My mom used to make Jello Jigglers for every holiday when we were kids! Completely forgot about that till I saw your post!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to your family this holiday season!
